Suspect Arrested in 2007 Attempted Murder Case

The suspect is charged with Attempted Aggravated Murder, first-degree Assault, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - 21-year-old Juanito Ray Garcia Washington County Sheriff’s Detectives have arrested a suspect in a shooting that occurred in October of 2007. Juanito Garcia was arrested in California last week on an attempted murder warrant. He is now in the Washington County Jail.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Dave Thompson, says deputies traveled to California to take custody of 21-year-old Juanito Ray Garcia who is a suspect in the shooting that occurred on October 14th 2007.

EPA Awards Portland Over $1.6 million to Reduce Diesel Emissions and Create Jobs

In addition, under the Act’s State Clean Diesel Grant program, a total of $88.2 million has been provided to States for clean diesel projects through a noncompetitive allocation process.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Salem-News.com In a move that stands to create jobs, boost local economies, reduce diesel emissions and protect human health and the environment for the people of Oregon, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded over $1.6 million to reduce emissions from Portland municipal fleet vehicles and construction contractor equipment.

This clean diesel project will create jobs while protecting Portland and Multnomah County’s air quality.

Doctor`s Guilty Plea on Sex Abuse Charges Means Several Years in Prison

Lawrence Ronald Litwer is sentenced to 60-months in a penitentiary.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Dr. Lawrence Ronald Litwer Dr. Lawrence Ronald Litwer of Portland, Oregon was sentenced today to 60-months in the Oregon penitentiary for crimes involving contact with an underage female. Litwer pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree Attempted Sex Abuse.

Washington County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Dave Thompson, says that when Ronald Litwer was first arrested, Sheriff’s detectives were concerned that his position as an urgent care doctor could have led to other incidents of abuse.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Police shooting Portland Police are investigating a shooting that happened tonight at approximately 8:00 p.m. Detective Mary Wheat with Portland Police, says an officer was driving in the area of the 8200 Block of Southeast Division and heard gunshots.

"A citizen then flagged down the officer and told him that someone had just been shot and provided the officer with information concerning the vehicle involved in the shooting."

Police say an apartment manager who approached when the manager came to his room to discuss a matter concerning Mr. Grotewold's residency."

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Stabbing investigation Portland Police Officers responded to the Westwind Apartments located at 333 NW 6th Avenue at approximately 8:10 a.m. this morning on a call of a stabbing.

Detective Mary Wheat says officers arriving on the scene found the manager of the apartments on scene suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Gas, Crude Prices Hit the Brakes: Pump Prices May Have Reached Summer Peak

Crude oil prices hit a six-week low today with crude trading around $63 per barrel after holding steady around $70 the past few weeks.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Gas pump Gas prices may have peaked for the summer, according to Oregon AAA. They often reach their summer highs close to the Independence Day holiday, and barring any unforeseen events, pump prices may slide in the coming weeks.

The national average for regular unleaded drops three cents this week to $2.60 while Oregon's average falls two cents to $2.78.

Portland Police Seek Missing 70-Year old Man With Dementia

Detectives say family members mistakenly believed they had to wait twenty-four hours before reporting Thompson as missing.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - 70-year old Daniel Rollin Thompson, missing from NE, Portland, Ore. 7-2-09 Portland Police detectives are currently attempting to locate a missing Northeast Portland man who may seem confused and may have dementia.

Detectives say they have reason to believe that 70-year old Daniel Rollin Thompson currently poses a danger to his own safety, but not to the public. Thompson was reported missing to Portland Police this afternoon, after failing to return from a walk, the day before.
