(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Portland Police Officers responded to the Westwind Apartments located at 333 NW 6th Avenue at approximately 8:10 a.m. this morning on a call of a stabbing.

Detective Mary Wheat says officers arriving on the scene found the manager of the apartments on scene suffering from multiple stab wounds.

"The officers attempted to make contact with the suspect who is a resident of the apartments. The suspect was in his apartment and refused to come to the door or cooperate with officers."

Wheat says the SERT team was activated and they successfully made contact with the suspect who surrendered to the officers without incident. The suspect has been identified as 57-year old Keith E. Grotewold of Portland.

Wheat says Assault Detectives were assigned to the case and eventually charged Grotewold with two counts of Assault in the Second Degree.

"They determined that this incident occurred because Mr. Grotewold became upset with the manager when the manager came to his room to discuss a matter concerning Mr. Grotewold's residency."

Grotewold was taken to the Multnomah County Jail in downtown Portland.

What is SERT? What does it stand for? Some acronym for sure!

Editor: Sorry, we generally try to not get people lost in the world of police language and acronyms.  SERT in this event stands for Special Emergency Response Team.  There are other uses for the acronym; sorry we didn't explain that in the regular text.
