New Festival Celebrates Celtic Culture on The Oregon Coast

(NEWPORT, Ore.) - EWPORT CELTIC FESTIVAL and HIGHLAND GAMES Event organizers with the City of Newport Parks and Recreation Department are excited to announce the first NEWPORT CELTIC FESTIVAL and HIGHLAND GAMES will take place June 10-11-12, 2011 at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in the heart of Newport.

The weekend long festival will celebrate the wonderfully diverse cultures of the seven Celtic Nations of Brittany, Cornwall, Galicia, Ireland, Isle of Man, Scotland and Wales. There will be Celtic music, dance, athletics, theater and vendors who sell authentic food, drink, arts, crafts, family histories and other items deeply rooted in these rich cultures.

Lincoln City Chamber of Commerce to Offer Internet Marketing Classes

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore.) - Lincoln City Chamber of Commerce The Lincoln City Chamber of Commerce, in an effort to continue to support and enhance members businesses, will be offering six (6) free internet marketing classes in 2011. The classes will cover Facebook; Twitter; Two-way communications through social networking; Marketing your business through social networks; and advanced Google tools.

These classes will take place on Wednesdays January 19th, 26th, and February 2nd, 2011 from 5:30pm to 8:50pm in the Community Room at the Oregon Coast Community College located at 3788 SE High School Drive, Lincoln City. These classes, valued at $180.00, will be offered free of charge to chamber members. Space is limited and will be on a first-come/first-served basis so it is recommended to reserve your spot early.

Coast Guard Assists Tillamook County Officials Locate Missing Mushroom Picker

The crew passed on the location of the man to the Tillamook County Sherriff’s Department who directed a ground party to the site where they positively identified and recovered Smith

(SEATTLE, Washington) - Salem-News.com The Coast Guard assisted the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Department in locating a missing 73-year-old man near Nehalem, Oregon, Sunday.

Coast Guard Air Station Astoria, Oregon, received a report that Lawrence Smith was missing at approximately 4 p.m., and launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew at 4:07 p.m. to conduct a search in the vicinity of Nehalem.

Reward Offered to Help Solve Unlawful Shooting of Elk in Rural Clatsop County

(ASTORIA, Ore.) - Elk illegally killed in Clatsop County Oregon Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish and Wildlife Division troopers from the Astoria Area Command office are asking for the public's help to identify the suspect(s) responsible for an illegal shooting of an elk in rural Clatsop County last weekend. A reward of up to $500 for information leading to an arrest in this case is being offered by the Oregon Hunters Association Turn in a Poacher (T.I.P.) Program.

According to Trooper Jim O'Connor, on October 30, 2010, OSP Fish and Wildlife Division troopers responded to a report of a wounded cow elk on the Youngs River mainline near milepost 6. The elk had been shot with a firearm and the meat was salvaged by OSP troopers.
