(Newport, Oregon) - Updated: Names Released, Search Continuing For Man Missing Off South Jetty at Yaquina Bay Search efforts are starting to wind down following this afternoon's search for a male reported missing off the South Jetty at Yaquina Bay near Newport. The body of an unidentified adult female was found in the ocean southwest of the jetty by US Coast Guard personnel. Oregon State Police, Newport Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office marine deputies and US Coast Guard are involved in the investigation and search effort. Updated information provided by OSP Lieutenant Mike Turner indicates on November 10, 2010 at approximately 1:00 p.m. area agencies received a report that a man and woman were washed off the South Jetty into the ocean near South Beach State Park. US Coast Guard personnel responded and at approximately 1:13 p.m. spotted the body of a woman about 40 yards southwest of the jetty in the ocean and retrieved her from the water. The deceased adult female has not been identified. Searchers have been looking for a second person, believed to be an adult male, who was reportedly seen with a woman earlier along the jetty. A US Coast Guard helicopter has been working in conjunction with searchers in boats and on the ground looking for the male reported to be with the woman. Two bicycles and other property were found on the beach near the South Jetty. These items have not been confirmed as belonging to the two people.
