`Tillamook Passage, Far Side of the Pacific`

(WARRENTON, Ore.) - Tillamook Passage</span></i> will soon be available at bookstores, libraries and <a href= Tillamook Passage is historical fiction that journeys back to the early days of the coastal Indians. This new novel for young adults and up is the latest book in an adventure series by award-winning author Brian Ratty.

The novel’s storyline is spun around the 1787 passage of the ship, Lady Washington, under the command of Captain Robert Gray, and his discovery of the Tillamook Indians and their large, pristine bay.

Breaching Whale Strikes Sailboat Near Astoria

Nobody was injured, the vessel had been participating in the Oregon International Offshore Race to Victoria, B.C.

(ASTORIA, Ore.) - L'Orca rests at Astoria's West End Basin pier after having its rigging and mast demolished by a breaching whale near Astoria. A sailboat was struck by a breaching whale near the coast of Astoria, Thursday. The vessel and its crew were taking part in a race to Victoria, B.C., when the whale surfaced.

Coast Guard Sector Columbia River received a report from the 38-foot sailing vessel L'Orca at 9:30 a.m. after the whale breached the surface of the water and crushed the rigging and mast of the boat when it fell back into the water.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Oregon tsunami Oregon's congressional delegation today applauded Presi. Obama's quick action in declaring a federal disaster in Curry County following the tsunami that severely damaged the Port of Brookings-Harbor.

Members of the congressional delegation issued a statement following the President's formal signing of the federal disaster declaration.

The Secrets of Mt. Hebo

Echoes of the past are fading slowly on the windy summit of Mt. Hebo.

(MT. HEBO, Ore.) - Radars at Hebo 66 Mount Hebo rises abruptly to an elevation of 3,176 ft. in the Northern Oregon Coast Range on the border between Tillamook County and Yamhill County.

It's proximity to the Pacific Ocean makes it an outstanding viewpoint and also made it a logical location for an Air Force General Surveillance Radar Station that was active from 1956 to 1980.
