Oregon Sees Four Fatal Crashes Saturday

The weather brings residents outdoors in droves; but this sunny day is shadowed by multiple fatal crashes on Oregon's roads.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon State Police are on the scene of a fatal crash on Highway 99 near Savage Rapids Dam; at 6:45 p.m. Saturday they responded to a fatal traffic crash happened Highway 38 between Scottsburg and Elkton, involving a single motorcycle.

State troopers were called to the scene of a fatal crash at 4:45 p.m. on Highway 18, near milepost 5 in Lincoln County. Before that, they responded to a fatal traffic crash on Highway 101 south of Bandon.

(FLORENCE, Ore.) - A fin whale carcass that washed ashore at Heceta Head State Scenic Viewpoint Sunday was successfully buried at the same beach Monday.

The 55' long, ~30-ton carcass that rested above the high tide line at the park was buried in an 11' deep hole.

(GOLD BEACH, Ore.) - Oregon State Police, with the assistance of the State Medical Examiner's Office and Monroe Police Department, are completing the investigation into the death of a missing Monroe, Washington man found Tuesday inside a locked utility trailer along the southern Oregon coast.

The man, whose body was found after troopers forced their way into the trailer, apparently locked himself inside and asphyxiated himself.
