(FLORENCE, Ore.) - U.S. 101 in Florence is closed due to a drawbridge malfunction on the Siuslaw River Bridge, according to Oregon Department of transportation Spokesman Joe Harwood.

"Northbound and southbound traffic is backed up for a few miles on either end of the bridge," Harwood said.

"The bridge operator raised the drawbridge at about 4:40 p.m. Friday to allow a fishing vessel to pass through. When attempts were made to lower the bridge, an electrical fire occurred."

Harwood says this left the south end of the drawbridge in the "up" position.

An ODOT drawbridge repair crew is en route to fix the problems. It is unclear when the highway across the Siuslaw River will reopen.

Finally, someone is doing something about the RV's that clog up 101, too bad they couldn't leave it up for a few days...

I noticed the grammar error also, but I know you are overwhelmed trying to get the true news out there and overlooked it. I suppose, until I work many hours, and even travel to different countries to make true news, I dont have much room to talk.

'The south end of the Florence, Oregon drawbridge in locked the "up" position?' Is that correct grammar? Just curious.

Editor: It was clearly wrong and I have corrected it. We have a big punch and a high ranking on the Internet but a very small staff on hand each day to help. That was my mistake, thanks for pointing it out.
