Oregon to Pursue Nation’s First Statewide Online Permitting Service

“Oregon’s first-in-the-nation statewide e-permitting will save businesses time and money,” Governor Kulongoski said.

(SALEM) - Construction woman The next step in Governor Kulongoski’s regulatory streamlining initiative will make purchasing a construction permit or scheduling an inspection as easy as a few clicks of your computer mouse.

The state’s Department of Consumer and Business Services Building Codes Division is partnering with business and local government to develop an online one-stop construction e-permitting system -- www.BuildingPermits.Oregon.gov.

The new effort would build on the success of the department’s existing e-permitting project and expand the range of building department services currently offered online.

Google Buys YouTube for $1.65 Billion

The research market firm Hitwise reported that YouTube received 46% of all visits to online video websites in September, compared with 11% for Google.

(MOUNTAIN VIEW, Ca.) - The Internet's largest search engine is joining forces with the most popular site to watch video on the Web. It was confirmed today that Google has agreed to purchase YouTube Inc. for $1.65 billion in stock.

YouTube's fast growing website generates an estimated 100 million videos a day.

Oregon Ranked Third Best State For E-Government

Good news for Oregon; as state is one of the top three for government Internet technology.

(PROVIDENCE, R.I. ) - Oregon state flag Texas and New Jersey are the best states for e-government in the United States, according to the seventh annual e-government analysis conducted by researchers at Brown University. The federal portal FirstGov.gov and the Department of Agriculture are the most highly rated federal sites.

Darrell M. West, director of the Taubman Center for Public Policy at Brown University, and a team of researchers examined 1,564 state and federal sites.
