Gresham Man Indicted for Murder in Wife`s Death

Police are asking for anybody who knows the Roberts' personally, or business associates of John Roberts, to contact police with information that might assist detectives in further investigation.

(GRESAM, Ore.) - John L. Roberts has been charged with one count of Murder in Multnomah County, Oregon regarding the death of his wife. A Multnomah County Grand Jury that convened on Friday, February 8th indicted a Gresham man, 51-year old John L Roberts, on one count of Murder.

Sgt. Claudio Grandjean with the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office says Roberts was arrested on February 2nd, after he called to report that he had shot his wife at the NE Gresham home they shared. Virginia Roberts was discovered deceased by responding officers.

Police Need Help Locating Missing Oregon Man

Anyone who sees Paul Millard Upton should call 911.

(GRESHAM, Ore.) - Paul Millard Upton Gresham Police are asking for the public's assistance in locating a 70-year-old missing Gresham man who is in danger of suffering a stroke if he doesn't receive a dose of his medications.

Paul Millard Upton was last seen at 9:00 AM as he was leaving out the back door of Chestnut Lane, the assisted living facility where he lives at 1219 NE 6th, Gresham. Mr. Upton is deaf and his closest family is in Sutherlin, Ore.

Gresham Fire Issues Safety Tips in Wake of Fire Related Death

A growing list of hazards accompany the state's cold snap, fire officials hope residents pay attention and live.

(GRESHAM, Ore.) - Fire alarm Gresham Fire has issued some important safety tips that they hope residents will pay attention to as colder than usual conditions prompt some residents to utilize home heating methods that are questionable.

Gresham Fire Marshall Gus Lian says one of the first things to remember is that you should never utilize area heaters that do not have tip over and temperature limit switches. A 39-year old woman died in an overnight fire that was related to a space heater.

Gresham Woman Dies in Early Morning Fire

Investigators say a space heater was placed too close to combustible materials.

(GRESHAM, Ore.) - Fatal fire investigation Firefighters in Gresham found a woman dead this morning as a result of a house fire in a single family residence at 531 NE 183rd Avenue. A spokesperson for Gresham Fire says they responded to a fire in a one story residence at 3:00 AM this morning, and found a 39-year old female victim in a front bedroom.

Additional casualties included three dogs and one cat. They say that pending the Medical Examiner's report, the victim appeared to have succumbed to smoke inhalation as was true of the animals.

Gang Assault Leaves Two Injured

Police say there could be a third victim, a female bystander who tried to help the man who was being attacked.

(GRESHAM, Ore.) - handcuffs Two people are in jail after an assault at the 7-Eleven at 162nd and Stark left two injured with knife wounds. A third victim fled before police could speak with her and police were unable to find her. Police believe the assault was gang-related.

Police arrested 19-year old Edward Perez of Portland and 16-year old Javier M. Santa Cruz, also of Portland at the scene.

Police in Gresham Investigate Stabbing of 17-Year Old Girl

There are no suspects named at this time but witnesses reported seeing four Hispanic males, approximately 18 to 25 years in age, running from the area.

(GRESHAM, Ore.) - Stabbing investigation Gresham Police are investigating an assault that sent a local 17-year old girl to the hospital with several stab wounds last night just after 11:00 PM.

Police were dispatched to the Riviera Garden apartments at 900 SE Yamhill, after the residents there found the victim laying in the dirt outside their apartment.

Two Murder Suspects Arrested by Clackamas County Sheriff`s

One suspect in the murder of Mohammed Jabbie was arrested in Gresham, the other in NE Portland.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - Michael Washington Jr. and Shirleen Stafford Members of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office arrested two suspects today believed responsible for the September, 2004 shooting death of Mohammed Khalifa Jabbie.

The victim in this case, Mohammed Jabbie, was murdered in his residence on the evening of September 24th. His body was discovered September 26th by Clackamas County Sheriff's Office patrol deputies, according to their Spokesman, Jim Strovink.

Sandbag Stations Open in Portland and Gresham

Sandbags can be a great help in avoiding property flooding, but you have to work ahead of the clock, and bring a shovel!

(GRESHAM, Ore.) - Salem during the 2005 floods Gresham homeowners needing sandbags to protect property from flooding or flows because of the rain may access the City's free, fill-your-own sandbag station at its Operations Center, 2123 S.E. Hogan Road.

The sandbag station is open 24 hours a day and provides sand, shovels and bags to residents of Gresham for home or private use only; sandbags are not available for commercial/contractor consumption. Citizens are responsible for the sandbags after use; public works crews do not dispose or retrieve them.

Water Quality Safe After Gresham Reservoir Vandalism

Three people were caught recently after breaking into the reservoir.

(GRESHAM, Ore.) - Glass of water Water samples taken from the The City of Gresham's Grant Butte water distribution grid are negative for contamination following a vandalism break-in at the Grant Butte Reservoir Wednesday. That is what Gresham spokesperson Jill Foreman said, adding that the samples were directly from the reservoir.

Serial Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested

Douglas York has a history of assaults, illegal narcotics and a previous robbery arrest.

(GRESHAM, Ore. ) - Douglas Richard York Since 03/24/07 The Gresham Police Department has been working a series of armed robberies with a lone white male described as the primary suspect and either displaying or implying a weapon.

Gresham Detectives, working in conjunction with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office and the Portland Police Bureau, were able to identify a suspect in these robberies following tips sent to CCSO and the Portland Police Bureau.

The suspect was identified as: 35-year-old Douglas Richard York, a transient from Fairview, Portland, & Sandy, Oregon,
