Salem Firefighters Free Man from Rolled Car

The man was recovered and transported to Salem Hospital.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem Oregon rollover crash, 11-9-07 Salem Fire crews were called out to a report a report of a trapped man in a vehicle in a creek at McGilchrist and 22nd Street SE. The call came through at 9:21 PM Friday.

Salem Fire Spokesman Bill Holmstrom says an engine crew arriving on the scene found a Ford Explorer almost on its top in an approximately 10 foot deep water filled culvert, with the patient still seat belted inside.

Pedestrian Struck Down on Freeway in Salem

The pedestrian has been identified as 31-year old Manuel J. Wood of Salem.

(SALEM, Oregon) - police car A Salem-area man was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon when he reportedly stepped out in front of the path of a commercial truck southbound Interstate 5 near the South Battlecreek overpass.

All lanes were shut down after the collisions on both northbound and southbound I-5 at mile post 250, just south of the Battle Creek overpass.

Fatal Crash Near Klamath Falls Involved 18 Vehicles

The early Monday morning multi-vehicle fatal traffic crash occurred during limited visibility conditions on Highway 97 about six miles north of the Oregon/California border.

(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) - Fatal crash near Klamath Falls, Oregon 11-5-07 Police say a fatal crash near the California border involved at least 18 vehicles. Several drivers who narrowly avoided becoming part of the collision remained on scene. Police say low visibility was the reason for the tragic incident.

The 7:20 AM series of traffic crashes were reported to Klamath County 911 Center in both directions on Highway 97 between milepost 283 and 285.

Driver in Fatal Estacada Crash Identified

Investigators have learned that the woman who died was driving her family to her husband's father's funeral in Oregon City.

(ESTACADA, Ore.) - Clackamas investigators have released more information on this morning's fatal automobile crash on Redland Road in Estacada. The driver who died was 40-year old Kimberly Kay Erwin, who resided with her husband and two daughters in Eagle Creek.

Jim Strovink with the Clackamas Sheriff's Office, says Mrs. Erwin's 2003 Mustang GT entered the intersection of South Redland Road from South Clear Creek in Estacada when it was struck by another vehicle, causing the fatal crash.

Cassandra Ulven with TVF&R says firefighters from the Tigard, Progress, King City and Tualatin fire stations arrived within minutes and knocked down a fire that had started in a trash compactor behind the Value Village, Rite Aid and Woodcraft stores.

Experimental Airplane Crashes Near Independence

The pilot was life-flighted to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland with possible spinal injuries.

(INDEPENDENCE, Ore.) - crashed plane near Independence, Oregon, 11-2-07 A small experimental airplane crashed today just north of the Independence Airport. The Polk County Sheriff's Office was advised of the crash just before 4:00 PM.

Sheriff's Office Spokesman Dean Bender says the owner and pilot of the two-seater "experimental type plane" is 59-year old John "Mike" Pongracz who lives on Airport Way at the Independence Airport Airpark.

(CALGARY) - firewalk If someone challenged you to walk on fire to help others, how far would you go? Trever McGhee walked 389 record setting feet to support charity on July 7th of this year, breaking his prior Guinness World Record™ of 294 feet.

This time, he wants other people to join him and be part of the Guinness World Records™ Annual Challenge to the world between November 6th-12th.

Long Days for Firefighters in California (VIDEO)

California Conservation Corps fire crews have been battling the fires since Sunday.

(SAN DIEGO) - Napa Valley Strike Team working in Hasley Canyon Wildland firefighters have accomplished a great deal in recent days, getting a grip on most of the offshore wind driven fires that raged through several Southern California counties.

Three of the significant fires still burning are in San Diego County. The Harris Fire is 90 percent contained. The Witch Fire is 97 percent contained, and the Poomacha Fire is 70 percent contained.

Did FEMA Name a Fake Press Conference Scapegoat?

Bloggers are suggesting that something may smell fishy, and more people may be accountable for what happened.

(SALEM, Ore.) - FEMA's Pat Philbin Heads are beginning to roll over FEMA's recent "fake" press conference last week. As it turned out, all of the people who appeared to be reporters were actually FEMA employees posing as reporters.

Pat Philbin, the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency's External Affairs Director, was slotted to become Director of Public Affairs for National Intelligence. But Philbin lost that appointment today after it was announced that he was the person behind the fake news conference.

California Fire Victims Will See Assistance, and More Wind

Warmer Temperatures and Light Offshore Winds are returning to Southern California, along with financial assistance.

(SAN DIEGO) - Weather map Two U.S. Democratic Legislators are asking the federal government to commit a billion dollars in fiscal year 2008 appropriations legislation to help deal with this year’s catastrophic wildfire season.

While that is good news for the disaster stricken residents, fire officials acknowledge that increasing winds could breathe new life into the fires and the threat is not over.
