The weather forecast is for highs near 80 degrees this weekend.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - From free camping and fishing, to an event celebrating the Salem Riverfront Carousel’s 13th Anniversary, or come out and salute our troops during the Oregon Army National Guard 234th Mobilization Ceremony, to Marion County Pet Amnesty Day, and even the Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade in Portland.

Jefferson Hosting Marion County Pet Amnesty Day

Mark your calendars now to make sure your dog is, and stays healthy.

(JEFFERSON, Ore. ) - The Jefferson Volunteer Fire Association along with Marion County Dog Services will be hosting a Pet Amnesty Day on Saturday, June 7 at the Jefferson Fire Station.

Santiam Equine Clinic will to give low cost vaccinations to your dogs for rabies and other preventable illnesses. The first 250 people will receive a free rabies vaccination.

Free Fishing, Crabbing in Oregon This Weekend

Free Fishing Weekend also aligns with State Parks Day.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Mark your calendars now for Oregon’s free fishing weekend June 7-8. For those two days only, you won’t need a license to fish, crab or clam anywhere in the state.

Even though licenses and tags will not be required over the two days, all other regulations apply including bag limit and size restrictions. At most events, there will be free fishing equipment first-time anglers can use.

Plan Now: Oregon State Parks Offer Free Camping This Saturday

According to weather.com on Saturday -- in the Salem and the mid-Willamette Valley -- the high temperature should be in the mid to lower 80's with an overnight low of 55 degrees.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - State parks throughout Oregon will be free of charge this Saturday, June 7, in celebration of State Parks Day.

Camping is free Saturday night in tent and RV sites including full hookup sites which include sewer, electricity, and water. Parking is also free on Saturday at the 26 day-use parks that normally charge a fee.

Oregon State Fair 2014 Concerts; Go Free or VIP

Acts include rock legend Joan Jett, comedian and movie star David Spade, to the legendary Beach Boys making their return to Salem.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - The Oregon State Fair has announced it’s line-up for 2014, and this year there is something for every age group.

Also this year, there will be limited free general admission concert seating available, included with paid fair admission. Or fans can enjoy their favorite artist with limited VIP experience seating.

Veterans for Peace is Banned From Duluth`s Memorial Day Parade

(DULUTH, MN) - For the first time in recent memory, the Duluth-area Vets for Peace Chapter 80 float has been banned from participating in Duluth’s Memorial Day parade.

The Northland Veterans Services Committee, which is the organizing committee that is planning this year’s Memorial Day parade has informed the local chapter of Vets for Peace that it will not be allowed to participate. The decision was recently announced over the phone to VFP Chapter 80 president Phil Anderson. The person on the phone simply said that the planning committee "didn't like us or our group”.

(SALEM, Ore.) - “Threads to New Worlds - A Collection of Fiber Arts” is a year-long traveling exhibit sponsored by Weaving Guilds of Oregon (WeGO). This juried show contains 30 pieces, plus display pieces of fiber art, created by 24 artists.

16th Annual World Beat Festival to Celebrate Japanese Culture

Takafuji Dance Company to Headline World Beat 2013.

(SALEM) - The Salem Multicultural Institute today announced the focus of the 2013 World Beat Festival is Washoi Japan! Celebrate Japan! The festival, which showcases cultural traditions from throughout the world, takes place this June 29 and 30 at Riverfront Park in Salem.

The Takafuji Dance Company will travel from Kanazawa and Tokyo to headline the festival with traditional geisha and lion dance performances.
