CBP Sizes more than 1.1 million worth of hard narcotics

(Calexico, Calif.) - Salem-News.com U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Calexico ports of entry made three significant hard narcotics seizures over the weekend worth over $1.1 million dollars.

The first seizure occurred on Friday, Sept. 17, at about 4 a.m. at the Calexico downtown port when a CBP officer conducting inspections of travelers entering the United States referred the driver of a 1997 Dodge Caravan and his passenger, both 23-year-old males, to the secondary area for further investigation

Defend Irvine`s Adventure Playground Sunday

Citizens in Community Deserve Say in Park’s Future and Use of Public Funds.

(IRVINE, Calif.) - Adventure Playground As Orange County begins to implode over news that a great political debacle known as the Great Park will probably never exist, we learn that another park, one that delighted many who are now young adults in this area, is being allowed to not exist, in a usable state that is.

A group called Save Adventure Playground!! is rallying Sunday 09/19/2010 to make a point of this lack of use, and to seek support in turning what has become an eyesore, back into a useful environment for youth.

El Toro Buried Drums of Toxic Chemicals

Information was reported to the Navy, who ignored the need to search for the drums.

(IRVINE, Calif.) - The dirtiest part of the old base is the MWSG-37 area; toxins migrated into this part of El Toro for half a century. El Toro employees buried 55 gallon drums of toxic chemicals to avoid Marine Corps Inspector General inspections and, in the case of half-empty drums, to support the need for ordering full drums of TCE/PCE.

TCE/PCE was used for decades on the former Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, California. These chemicals were used as degreasers for aircraft parts and for various other purposes.

CBP officers seized 15 packages of cocaine weighing about 40 pounds from the vehicle of a SENTRI member

Following San Bruno Pipeline Fire, Landowners on PG&E Pipeline Route Join Lawsuit

Many communities along the proposed pipeline route have volunteer fire departments with limited resources.

(MEDFORD, Ore.) - San Bruno Landowners along PG&E’s proposed Pacific Connector pipeline route announced today that they will ask to join a federal lawsuit brought against Oregon and the state’s Clean Water Act permitting process.

The Pacific Connector pipeline proposal sued Oregon’s agencies for deeming their application incomplete for a 230-mile, 36-inch, non-odorized pipeline.
