On Saturday at about 7:00 p.m., the Albany Police Department responded to the Discount Cigarettes store located at 2850 SE Santiam Highway on the report of an armed robbery. The lone store employee told police the store had been robbed.

The sixth Albany area summit on homelessness will happen Wednesday, from 9 a.m.-noon at Albany City Hall, 333 Broadalbin Street SW. Representatives of organizations and agencies that work directly with Albany's homeless and low-income residents will attend, with this year's focus on the "new homeless:" those in or near homelessness due to the ongoing economic downturn.

Special Olympics Oregon Fall Regional Games Held StatewideSalem-News.com(PORTLAND, Ore.) -
Several communities throughout Oregon will once again host Special Olympics Oregon Fall Regional Games on consecutive weekends in Late October and November. More than 2,000 athletes will compete in one of 10 competitions in seven cities. Hundreds of coaches, volunteers and families will join in to support competitors.
