(ALBANY, Oregon) - The Albany Fire Department responded to 918 Water Street NE at approximately 4:27 a.m. today to a reported structure fire. Firefighters arrived at the scene within approximately three minutes to find single-family home heavily charged with smoke and fire. Firefighters quickly made entry, searched the home, determined it was vacant and proceeded to extinguish the fire. Fire suppression operations lasted approximately one hour and forty-five minutes as fire fighters extinguished hidden fire in the walls and attic. Twenty-four Fire Department personnel responded to the emergency call, which included a fire engine from the Corvallis Fire Department. The Albany Police Department also responded. Off duty Albany Fire Fighters and a Lebanon Fire District medic ambulance responded to provide standby coverage in the City during the incident. The cause of this fire is suspicious and is currently under investigation. The home suffered significant fire damage; however, a dollar loss determination has not been made.
