(POMONA, Calif.) - Sara Zahler scored 20 points and went 6-of-7 from three point range to lead the Western Oregon University women's basketball team to a 76-63 win over Cal State LA, Saturday, Dec. 20.
The Wolves (4-4) shot 46 percent from the field in the game and limited the Golden Eagles to 34.6 percent shooting. WOU also had an assist on 18 of its 29 field goals as it recorded its second positive assist-to-turnover ratio of the season. As a team, Western Oregon was 9-of-15 from three-point range and held Cal State LA to 4-of-21 from behind the arc.

(LA GRANDE, Ore.) - The Mounties (6-3, 2-1 CCC) started the game off the game by taking the lead and never looked back against the Knights of Warner Pacific (5-6, 1-2 CCC).
Eastern led the entire way; however the Mounties struggled the first half to keep Warner Pacific off the boards, giving up 13 to Eastern's 7 offensive boards. The Mounties were stagnant for a period of time, until Brianna Smith came off the bench to spark energy to the Mountie offense, hitting 5 for 5 from behind the arc. The Mounties continued to push the ball, scoring 12 points off the fast break, and went into intermission leading 37-26.

(LAS VEGAS, Nev.) - Keisha Gordon scored 18 points and Kristen Shielee posted a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds as the 23rd-ranked George Fox University Bruins edged the Virginia Wesleyan College Marlins 56-53 in the first round of the Las Vegas Hoopla women’s basketball tournament Friday afternoon here at the Centennial Hills Community Center Gym.
It was a battle of the unbeatens as both the Bruins and Marlins came into the game with 6-0 records. Fueled by a layup and three-pointer by Gordon, the Bruins jumped out to a 9-0 lead four minutes into the game. Jordan Neville’s jumper at 15:46 got the Marlins on the board and started an 11-1 run, capped by a three-point play by Bryttani Payton, that gave VWC its first lead of 11-10 with 12:12 to go in the half.

(POMONA, Calif.) - The Western Oregon University women's basketball team fell 77-57 to host Cal Poly Pomona at the GNAC/CCAA Challenge, Friday, Dec. 19.
The loss dropped the Wolves to 4-5 on the season as the Broncos improved to 5-5.
Katie Torland was the only WOU student-athlete in double-figures with 19 points. She went 8-of-10 from the free throw line and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Shayla Corder was the second-leading scorer with nine points as she shot 3-of-5 from floor and 3-of-4 from the line.

Miller finished with eight points and a pair of blocked shots and Quick-Warner also scored eight, along with a game-high six assists. Andrew Williams led NCU on the boards with six. (EUGENE, Ore.) - Junior Andrew Miller (North Eugene HS) hit a layup with four seconds to play off a perfect pass from Erik Quick-Warner, giving the Northwest Christian University men’s basketball team a 67-66 victory over Concordia on Friday evening. The play leading up to Miller’s shot was nearly identical to one taken in a one-point victory at home last season.
Concordia took control early and led for the first 30 minutes of the game. The Cavs took a 4-0 lead on free-throws and expanding the advantage to 11-4 with 14:42 remaining in the first half after a jumper by Alex Tiefenthaler. NCU closed the gap to one, as a Brent McKee three-point play made it 17-16 with 9:20 to go.

(ARCATA, Calif. ) - The Western Oregon University men's basketball team outscored Sonoma State 48-31 in the second half as it earned a 79-62 victory Friday, Dec. 19, in the first day of the DeBani Holiday Classic.
The win moved the Wolves record to 4-2 as the Seawolves dropped its fourth straight to fall to 3-5.
The game was tied 31-31 at halftime, but after Sonoma State scored the first three points of the second half, Western Oregon went on a 14-3 run to take control of game. In the second half, the Wolves shot 69.6 percent from the field as it made 16 of its 23 shots from the floor including 6-of-9 three-point attempts.

(RENO, Nevada) -
Seventeenth-ranked senior Heinrich Barnes (Pretoria, South Africa) had another solid outing for the Oregon State wrestling team, taking third place at the Reno Tournament of Champions lasting all day on Thursday.
Barnes improves to 16-2 overall, falling only to Nick Stabile of North Carolina in the semifinals at 149 pounds and earning bonus points in four of his five matches.
As a team, Oregon State finished eighth with 59.5 points with only Pac-10 opponents Cal State Bakersfield and Arizona State finishing ahead of it.

Alex Mitchell led the Beavers with 23 points, while Brittney Davis scored 22 and Talisa Rhea had 20 in the victory. Fox-Griffin, meanwhile, posted eight points and nine assists.

The win moves the Wolves to 3-2 on the season and drops the Geoducks record to 6-2. (MONMOUTH, Ore.) - Travis Kuhns led four Western Oregon student-athletes in double-figure scoring with 26 points as he went 3-of-4 from three-point range and 7-of-8 from the free throw line.
He also pulled down eight rebounds and had a team-best four assists. Mike McLaughlin and Blair Wheadon put up 14 and 16 points, respectively, as both went 6-of-10 from the field. In his first game of the season, Demario Ballard came off the bench to scored 10 points for Western Oregon in just 15 minutes of play.
