NWC Championship: Bruins 4th after Day One of NWC Final Tournament

On Sunday’s final day, the first group of golfers are set to tee off at 8:00 a.m., with the last group expected to hit the course around 10:10 a.m.

(YAKIMA, Wash.) - NWCA logoOn a blustery day with winds up to 30 miles per hour and gusts even higher, resulting in higher than usual scores, the George Fox University Bruins shot a four-player score of 379 to stand in fourth place after the first day of competition in the Northwest Conference Women’s Golf Championship Tournament Saturday afternoon here at the Apple Tree Golf Course.

The host University of Puget Sound posted a team score of 355 on the par 74 course to take a 10-stroke lead over second-place Linfield College at 365 and an 18-stroke lead over current NWC standings-leader Whitworth University, which shot a 373.

WOU Baseball: Western Oregon Clinches Eighth-Straight GNAC Title With Split

The Western Oregon baseball team will travel to Lacey, Wash., for a doubleheader Apr. 28 at 1:00 p.m.

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - WOU logoWestern Oregon split its doubleheader with Northwest Nazarene Saturday (Apr. 25) as it lost game one 6-3 before bouncing back to take game two 12-5.

With the split and a loss by Montana State Billings, Western Oregon captured its eighth-straight Great Northwest Athletic Conference title and its ninth straight conference title overall. The Wolves are now 29-11 this season and 18-3 in the GNAC. The split pushed the Crusaders to 13-26 on the season and to 6-18 in the GNAC.

OSU Softball Comes up Short against No. 4 Stanford

Stanford’s shortstop Ashley Hansen led the Cardinal offense with three hits, three RBI and two runs. Pitcher Missy Penna earned the complete game win to improve to 28-4.

(STANFORD, Calif.) - OSU logoSophomore Audrey Roderfeld (Vista, Calif.) went 2-for-2, hitting her 12th home run of the season, but the Beavers came up short against No. 4 Stanford, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon at Boyd & Jill Smith Family Field.

Oregon State (24-24, 3-11) tallied six hits from five different players with Roderfeld recording the only extra base hits between both teams.

Softball: George Fox 6-1, Dallas 4-19

Bruins End Hollen’s 1st Season by Splitting with Crusaders.

(NEWBERG, Ore.) - George Fox logoEnding their first season under new coach Jessica Hollen on a more upbeat note than most of the rest of the season, the George Fox University Bruins split a non-conference softball doubleheader with the University of Dallas Lady Crusaders.

Saturday afternoon's game was played at Morse Field, winning the opener 6-4 before dropping the nightcap 19-1 in five innings.

Linfield Holds Narrow Lead After NWC Men's Golf First Round

Pacific came into the conference tournament with the overall lead in the race for the NWC team crown.

(McKENZIE BRIDGE, Ore.) - Pacific's Max BonkLinfield College took a three-stroke lead over Pacific University after Saturday's first round action of the the Northwest Conference Men’s Golf Championships being played at Tokatee Golf Club in McKenzie Bridge, Oregon.

With a total of four players carding sub-80 rounds, the Wildcats fired a total of 15-over-par 303 compared to Pacific's 306. Puget Sound stayed in contention with a 311, followed by Pacific Lutheran at 314, Whitman 315, Willamette 327, Whitworth 331 and George Fox 348.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Corban College logoAfter watching Corban College take today's opener, 7-2, The College of Idaho used a bottom of the seventh inning rally, capped by a walk-off single by Cody Brubaker to salvage a split of today's doubleheader, topping the Warriors, 4-3, at Wolfe Field.

With the Game 1 win, the Warriors (11-35, 9-23 NAIA West) ended a ten-game losing streak, while the Coyotes picked up their 28th win of the season in the nightcap.

Errant Throw In 10th Gives Beavers Series Finale Win Over USC

Joey Wong led-off the Beavers first inning with a single that pushed his hitting streak to four games.

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - OSU Beavers logoKoa Kahalehoe scored the game-winning run in the 10th inning on an errant throw from USC pitcher Daniel Cooper, giving the 14th-ranked Oregon State baseball team a 5-4 victory in the series finale at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.

After Kraig Sitton and Kevin Rhoderick combined to retire the side in the top of the 10th, Kahalahoe led the bottom half of the inning off with an infield single.
