(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Portland State (11-4, 5-0) volleyball keeps streaks alive as they sweep the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks (6-8, 1-3), 30-21, 30-28, 30-23.
Thursday's victory keeps the Vikings undefeated in the Big Sky Conference and maintains their position at the top. The win also keeps the Vikings 18-match winning streak alive against Big Sky Opponents at home.

Formerly identified as gates 9-11 in that area, it will now be named Gate D. Gate D will appear on all tickets from this point on.

(TEMPE, Ariz.) - For the first time in 11 years, the 21st-ranked Oregon volleyball team escaped Tempe triumphantly, but it wasn’t easy as the Ducks needed four games (30-23, 40-42, 30-25, 32-30) to edge Arizona State and notch their second straight Pacific-10 victory on Thursday night at Wells Fargo Arena.
Oregon is now 13-2 overall and 2-1 in league – the program’s best start to conference since the 1990 season.

(TUCSON, Ariz. ) - Sophomore Lexie Rathgeber set a new career-high with 14 kills on 20 attempts, hitting .651, but the Beavers suffered its second Pac-10 loss in three games (29-31, 26-30, 25-30) to Arizona Thursday evening.
Sophomore Rachel Rourke had 14 kills, while junior libero Ashley Evans had 15 digs, and junior setter K.C. Walsh posted a double-double with 43 assists and 11 digs for the Beavers.

(SAN DIEGO) - Major League Baseball has suspended umpire Mike Winters for the remainder of the season, the Commissioner's Office announced on Wednesday.
The suspension evolved from an investigation of an eighth-inning incident during Sunday's Rockies-Padres game in San Diego in which Padres left fielder Milton Bradley was ejected for arguing with Winters. Read Full Article

(RICHMOND, Va.) - A federal judge placed tighter restrictions on Michael Vick on Wednesday after the Atlanta Falcons quarterback tested positive for marijuana.
Because of the result, U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson placed special conditions on Vick's release, including restricting him to his home between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. with electronic monitoring and ordering him to submit to random drug testing. Read Full Article
