(SPOKANE, Wash.) - The Gonzaga University women's basketball team opened the 2007-08 season Monday night with a 103-37 win over Corban College in the only exhibition game the Zags will play this year.
All 13 Bulldogs scored in the victory, including five players who finished in double-figure points for Gonzaga. The Bulldogs were led by sophomore Heather Bowman who posted a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Dennis Dixon and Nick Reed have been named Pac-10 Players of the Week after Oregon’s 35-23 win over then-No. 4 (BCS) Arizona State on Saturday.
For Dixon, it is his third POTW award of the season, a feat that has never been accomplished by an Oregon player since its inception in 1983. The senior and Heisman Trophy candidate from San Leandro, Calif., passed for 189 yards and 4 touchdowns, while also adding 57 rushing yards.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Matt Bicocca of Willamette University has been named Northwest Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week for his place-kicking efforts in the Bearcats' 77-17 win over Lewis & Clark College on Saturday, Nov. 3 in Portland, Ore. Bicocca set a school record by connecting on 11 of 11 extra points against the Pioneers.
Bicocca's place-kicking success helped the Bearcats set a team record for scoring in a game. The 77 points accumulated by Willamette broke the old school record of 75, set during a 75-0 win over Whitman College in 1934. Read Full Article

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Freshman goalkeeper Kelli Gano of Willamette University has been named Northwest Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row, after allowing just one goal in the Bearcats' final two games of the season. Gano also registered a total of 16 saves, while earning a 2-0 record during the week ending Nov. 4.
A week ago, Gano was chosen Defensive Player of the Week for the first time, after allowing only one goal in 275 minutes in Willamette's three games between Oct. 23 and Oct. 28.

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) - Mary Lillian Ellison, better known by her ring name The Fabulous Moolah, died Friday night in Columbia, S.C. She was 84.
Ellison debuted as “Slave Girl Moolah” in 1949, serving as the valet for the Elephant Boy (Tony Olivas). By the early 1950s, Moolah was a valet for the legendary “Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers. On September 18th, 1956, Moolah defeated Judy Grable in a 13-woman battle royale to win the vacant NWA Women’s World Title.
