(SALEM, Ore.) - Organizers of a Health Faire in Salem this weekend say their goal is to provide at least 350 treatments while raising public awareness of the standard goal of 350 ppm (parts per million) for carbon emissions in the atmosphere, in advance of the climate treaty talks in Copenhagen this December. JoAnne Kohler of the Tea Party Bookshop which is hosting the event, says, "Although global levels currently exceed the 350 ppm (we are at 390), more stringent standards can possibly reverse this upward trend and prevent runaway climate change." "Climate change is a REALLY BIG issue. As individuals, we wonder what we can do that would even have an impact – will our actions make a difference? Will our voices be heard by those who are making environmental decisions?" Tad Stuck with synergetinc.com, explains that October 24th is International Climate Change Day. "On October 24th, join with Tea Party Bookshop and numerous local health care practitioners for a day of healing and activism! Be part of this Global Day of Climate Action in conjunction with 350.org, and together we can promote awareness with action. Tea Party Bookshop and Synergy Productions will be offering 350 acupuncture, massage therapies and reiki treatments to the public free of charge." Kohler says 350 at Tea Party Bookshop will be one of 1784 events across 141 countries on October 24th, so this truly is a global movement. "By joining together in this grand fashion, we send a message to the decision makers that we care about the health of our planet, and we support a stricter standard, for everyone’s sake. These treatments given to individuals will enhance their personal health and harmony, and in turn, enhance the collective well-being." In addition to the treatments being given, will be the Alternative Health Faire itself, encompassing many holistic practitioners, vendors and activist groups, who will present information relating to healthier living, alternative therapies and new ways you can affect healthy change personally, locally and globally. For more information, including sponsorship and volunteer opportunities, please contact JoAnne Kohler at 503-990-6471 or Tad Stuck at 503-551-9260, or send an email to: 350@teapartybookshop.com. More information can also be found on the web site TeaPartyBookshop.com. 350 at Tea Party Bookshop will take place at 210 Liberty Street SE. The event will run from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Saturday October 24th, 2009. It will be held above the bookshop on the corner of Liberty and Ferry Streets in historic downtown Salem.
