(SALEM, Oregon) - Initial 911 calls of shots being heard in the area were received at 3:25am. As deputies arrived in the area, they received the 3:34am call of the victim being shot. The number of shots fired has not been confirmed as of this time, but a number of bullet holes were observed in the victim's house & windows. Forensic evidence was collected at the scene. Witnesses told our deputies that they had seen a dark colored sedan, possibly a Honda, leaving the area right after the shooting. Shortly after 4:00am, deputies located a black 1996 Honda, 2-door sedan parked in a residential area of northeast Salem. The car was approximately one mile from the scene of the shooting. It was still running, but unoccupied. A check on the status of the vehicle determined that it was reported stolen in San Diego, California on September 29th. Evidence from the car confirmed that it was involved in the shooting. An area search for suspects was unsuccessful. Marion County Sheriff's Detectives are asking for the public's assistance in identifying and locating anyone seen driving or riding in this vehicle between September 29th and the time of the shooting. The vehicle is distinctive in that it has peeling paint on the roof, hood and trunk. Additionally, there are three readily visible stickers on the driver's side of the windshield. The stickers are about 3" square. One is red, one is blue and one is green. Hopefully a service station attendant might recall seeing the vehicle and remembering its occupants. Photos of the vehicle are attached to this release. Detectives are still working to obtain a description of the person or people responsible for the shooting. No further suspect information is available at this time. Anyone with information on this investigation is asked to call the Marion County Sheriff's Office Tip Line at 503.540.8079. Callers may remain anonymous. WATCH VIDEO FROM THE SCENE, BELOW:
