(PORTLAND, Ore.) - The Attorney General’s office released the results of its five-month investigation Monday, clearing Portland Mayor Sam Adams of wrong-doing. He has been under investigation for possible sexually related contact with Beau Breedlove, who was a minor when first in contact with Adams. The Oregon Department of Justice conducted what they describe as, "A comprehensive investigation which included interviews with 57 witnesses; review of voluminous City Hall records, including phone and email accounts; review of campaign brochures, emails, and other materials; review of Breedlove's cell phone records; and a forensic examination of the electronic contents of Breedlove's cell phone." The DOJ says Adam's cell phone was part of the investigation as well as three of his computers. Adams reacted on his Website, stating, "I made mistakes in my personal life that led to this investigation. As a result, the city I love was put through an ordeal." Portland's embattled mayor continued by saying, "I am gratified the investigation has been completed, and I want to reiterate that I am sorry." It has been a long ordeal for the Portland Mayor, accused of having improper relations with a legislative aide. "I want to thank Portlanders for their support and understanding. I want to also thank my colleagues, the hardworking employees of the City of Portland, and my focused staff for helping to deliver exceptional results over the past five months." A resignation letter apparently written in January that was never handed in, has surfaced, but Adams, who is the subject of an ongoing recall effort, says he will continue to fight to, "Put Portlanders back to work, address the high-school dropout rate, and strategically plan for Portland’s future."
