(CHICAGO) - One Kagame praise-singer named Joseph Rwagatare writing in the Kagame propaganda paper New Times, would have you believe that the Rwandan dictator made a triumphant entry into Chicago according to plan. This is what the praise-singer writes: “And the message to the thousands gathered inside the hotel, when it came, it was appropriately rousing and fit the occasion to perfection.” What a wishful thinking! Nothing could be further from the reality. Where were the celebrities Kagame is famous for being pictured with? They didn’t pitch. US President had been busy with another dictator, Bongo Ondimba of Gabon, so perhaps he was fed up with pacifying these tyrants. Neither the Governor Quinn of Illinois nor Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, former Obama chief of Staff wanted to get their hands dirty. Not one sitting Senator nor Congressman was willing to risk the bad press by hanging around with Rwanda dictator. Indeed, all Kagame’s organizing machine could manage to make the sham event “respectable” was a washed-up opportunistic politician by the name Jesse Jackson. One wonders how much they paid good old Jesse to appear. There was a lone Chicago businessman Joe Richie, the Honorary Council. And this was in Chicago- the bustling home of billionaires – the kinds of people Kagame had intended to attract. Look at the cheering “crowd” – it is the usual Kagame entourage, including members of the dictator’s Presidential Advisory Council and a hired crowd rented for the occasion. The brave protestors against the tyrant won the day. If any evidence were needed to confirm this, look at the Global Newspapers’ Headlines about Kagame in Chicago – none to the liking of the dictator:
So much for the triumphant entry into Chicago! No sir Mr Dictator, your spin doctors can lie in New Times all they want. But the world now knows you as a tyrant and dictator. The Hague beckons.
