Oregon State Football Prepares for Tough 2014 Campaign

The Beavers are coming off back-to-back bowl seasons, capturing last December’s Hawai’i Bowl title over Boise State.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Preparations for the 2014 Oregon State football season move into high gear with the first official practice Monday, Aug. 4 at the Tommy Prothro Football Complex.

The 28-practice period includes six days of “doubles” with Sundays off.

The Beavers are coming off back-to-back bowl seasons, capturing last December’s Hawai’i Bowl title over Boise State. OSU returns 51 lettermen from the 2013 team, including 18 starters. The team is led by Maxwell and Davey O’Brien Award candidate senior quarterback Sean Mannion.

Preseason awards watch list honors also include linebacker Michael Doctor, tight end Connor Hamlett, cornerback Steven Nelson, center Isaac Seumalo and wide receivers Richard Mullaney and Victor Bolden.

The NCAA mandates that the first five days of practice is an “acclimatization period.” The team will not be in full gear until Friday, Aug. 8 which coincides with BBQ With the Beavs with head coach Mike Riley, Benny Beaver, the cheerleaders and band.

Practices are open to the public. Fans are asked to stay off the playing surfaces at the facilities. There will be bleachers available for all practices at the Prothro Complex and Reser Stadium.

Season tickets remain available in all sections of the stadium.

The seven-game home schedule includes the 118th edition of the Civil War, presented by The Oregon College Savings Plan, PacificSource Health Plans, Your Local Ford Stores, Wells Fargo and McDonald’s.

The remainder of the home slate includes Portland State, San Diego State, Utah, California, Washington State and Arizona State.

2014 Fall Practice Schedule (subject to change)

All morning practices are 10:20 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Doubles are 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Aug. 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 (doubles), 11 (doubles), 12, 13 (doubles), 14, 15 (doubles), 16, 18 (doubles), 19, 20 (doubles), 21, 22, 23, 25-29 (TBA).
