(PORTLAND, OR) - This afternoon, Friday January 18, 2013, at 2:27 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to East Precinct responded to the report of a shooting in the Jack in the Box drive-thru, located at 4242 Southeast 82nd Avenue in the Foster-Powell neighborhood. Officers arrived and contacted two people, a male and a female, who told police that they were sitting in their car in the drive-thru line when an unknown African American male fired multiple shots at their car, then ran away westbound on Southeast Boise Street. Nobody was hit during the shooting. Both the building and the victim vehicle suffered gunshot damage. Several officers conducted a neighborhood search for the suspect but did not locate anyone matching his description. The suspect is described as an African American male in his 20s, 5'10", skinny build, wearing all black clothing. Jack in the Box is closed for the time being as the investigation continues. Based on preliminary investigation by responding officers, it is believed that the shooting could be gang-related so investigators from the Gang Enforcement Team are responding to the scene. Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call the Gang Enforcement Team at (503) 823-4106. The Portland Police Bureau Gang Enforcement Team and Gun Task Force are continuing to actively investigate gang and gun crimes in the City of Portland. Anyone with information about gang and/or illegal gun crimes in the City of Portland is encouraged to provide information to the Portland Police Bureau. If you see an illegal gun crime in progress, call 9-1-1. Source: News release from the Portland Police Bureau _________________________________________
