Alex Jones Switches Sides, Backs Anti-Gun LobbyPolitical Perspective by Tim King Salem-News.,com
The whole mess all stems from Jones' recent appearance on the Piers Morgan show on CNN.
(SACRAMENTO, CA) - What anti-gun lobbyists have paid Alex Jones to soil whatever remains of the soul of the pro-gun movement? How did they get him to do it on a national television program? These questions connect to the only possibility... that Jones sold out and it secretly working for the other side, trying to harm the American's right to possess firearms.
The whole mess all stems from Jones' recent appearance on the Piers Morgan show on CNN. The accompanying video clip from YouTube shows the highlights, or low lights as the case may be, of the rant that could be a real career sinker for Jones.
He had an opportunity to wage a realistic discussion, but since it is tied to a petition Jones is circulating to have Piers Morgan deported back to England, he apparently felt like he had to take a lunatic's approach rather than that of a professional journalist, talk show host, etc.
No respectable U.S. gun owner is going to back this man who epitomes the ugly American in the worst and darkest possible form? Jones is a sad excuse for an advocate and I am sorry that he has been able to draw so many followers.
Alex Jones is an extreme nationalist who can't see past a few selectively interpreted words written by our slave-owning founding fathers back in 1776.
This interview is what Jones will forever be remembered for. After all, most Americans don't even know who the guy is. He was a staunch Ron Paul proponent, which accounts for a small but vocal and somewhat organized slice of the American pie.
Jones deflected simple questions and accused Morgan of using "factoids" as tricks of deception, while likening Morgan's simple questions to Perry Mason tactics.
My father was a respectable, legal American gun collector, I was around guns all of my life, and my culture tells me that this is OK. But rational and reasonable discussions are not taking place if Jones is in the room and he throws his weight about in a threatening way.
I don't think it is any kind of stretch to say that Alex Jones did nothing to help the pro-gun community, he only achieved the opposite.
Yelling and screaming to make his point, Jones even earned the wrath of Glenn Beck. Real gun activists will have far more success if they turn their backs on this clown.
Alex Jones has all the charm of Ted Nugent, and that means he has none at all. Somebody used a vacuum cleaner to suck his dry a long time ago. Maybe Jones and Ted Nugent should get married.
