Military Suicides: Soldiers Driven to Desperation Deaths

They are the highest in history.

Military memorial
Is there really any difference as to how they died?

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - I am appalled beyond repugnance to even read my own title. It seems that the Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force all have the same problem but the Infantry really gets it in the rear echelon.

They won’t accept one into the service with ANY vestige of MENTAL DISORDER. Then they drive him crazy enough to kill himself, then they call it ADJUSTMENT DISORDER and a pre-service condition and it is all the suicide soldier or Marine's weakness.

I have posted many articles about Infantry craziness on Salem-News.com. One more will just further indicate my disgust.

For the past 4 years the Army has had at least 100 suicides per year, probably many more, with about ¼ in Iraq (less total troops). This is much higher than civilians of the same age group. Are you surprised?!? You shouldn’t be!!

General Maxwell Taylor (?) WW II Paratrooper Commander said “The U.S. Army Infantryman is the best war machine we have”. I don’t think he was just talking about paratroopers or marines but THE Infantry. WE WON THE WAR!!

I know best about U.S. Army Infantry so don’t draw your sabers! From buck private to general the Infantry is trained to be aggressive!! What does this mean?

Officers demand of their underlings full bore aggression. This results in medals and promotion for the officers AND non-coms but the price is paid by the Infantry Dogface in wounds, Purple Hearts and death.

The worst part of this activity is that there is NO slowing down. It goes on and on ‘til a million dollar wound or death.

In addition to the successful suicides (wrong words), the Army estimates 10 or 20 times more soldiers attempt or consider suicide. Does the Army have a problem?

The most insulting part of the above is that even if the soldier is driven to suicide, the way things are now, the suicide family WILL NOT get a letter of condolence from the President as they would for any other death.

This is totally, egregiously insane! First they accept a normal young man, drive him crazy beyond despair and then throw him out with the trash.

A late news flash is that the Army is training sergeants to recognize suicidal behavior and they even admit STRESS is a factor. This is like foxes guarding the chicken coop.

They also admit that they have a 40% vacancy of Psychologists in the Army... so they will replace with Sergeants?

Another result of combat STRESS is the estimated 200 thousand homeless Veterans. They squeeze us dry then they discharge us with only minimal job skills and miserable VA treatment.

HOORAH to my PTSD Victim buddies!!

You're not counting how many ex-soldiers, discharged an off active duty, make up the alarmingly high suicide statistics. Most articles only cover the number of active-duty vets who are ending up with this disease. In fact, over 100 discharged vets each week commit suicide. Nationally, our statistic for the disease is as high as 33,000 people every year killing themselves in America. The disease behind it is PTSD. We love to delude ourselves. We'd rather not know or think about such things. But it is an epidemic, and like all ignored epidemics, it will spread until someone does something about it. Some one who will stand up and talk about it. Dr. Leveque is such a man. He has written numerous articles and papers about the beneficial use of cannabis to treat PTSD, and concurs with Dr. Lester Grinspoon and the late Dr. Todd Mikarya that soldiers will survive if they have safe access to this medicine. We need to rethink and decriminalize our marijuana laws…we need to rethink how we’re operating in the drug war. Currently, we are not doing a good job.”
