Who is Julie Kramer and why is she contacting Veterans For Peace?

We are finding ourselves at the center of a historic movement, able to make a critical contribution.

Veterans for Peace

(ST. LOUIS, Mo.) - Who, indeed, is this Julie Kramer? After a thorough background check, VFP’s counter-intel unit determined she belongs to a growing number of people electronically communicating people electronically communicating with VFP -------- to thank us for participating in the Occupy encampments.

Here is what young Ms. Kramer wrote:

Hello,

My name is Julie Kramer and I have been at Occupy San Diego for almost a month. I would like to first thank you very much for your support of the Occupy Movement. It means the world to us when we see veterans in our marches and at our rallies…

Thank you for fighting for our rights and freedom. As part of the younger genera-tion I can promise you that I will now fight hard to protect those same rights through my relentless Occupation and dedication to this cause.

Julie

And Julie is not alone. Similar letters have come from every quarter of the country, thanking VFP for standing with citizens at park occupations from coast to coast and plenty of places in between.

As more veterans hear about VFP we pick up new members, including ones in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Indiana, asking how to start a chapter!

Additional members and chapters are not the only good news lately. We are finding ourselves at the center of a historic movement, able to make a critical contribution.

Here’s what I mean:

Not all organizations realize it when their reason for being becomes an exact fit for their times — times when what we do as a matter of course can have a profound effect on the direction of our country. Surely you sense it. We are living in liminal time — that is to say, on a threshold.
