WWII B-17 Bomber Force Lands on Fire, Destroyed

Seven souls walk away unharmed thanks to a top notch pilot and crew.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Crashed B-17 in Illinios One of the remaining World War Two B-17 'Flying Fortress' bomber aircraft in existence, the 'Liberty Belle', was forced to make an emergency landing in an Illinois cornfield Monday while on fire.

All seven aboard safely escaped after the plane landed. The plane was owned and operated by The Liberty Foundation in Miami.

2011 Minidoka Pilgrimage in June Marks 69 Years

German WW II POWs In the U.S.

The U.S. housed, fed, and worked over 400,000 German POWs in 46 states with little or no risk to the populace.

(SAN FRANCISCO) - Map of some of the important detention/internment camps operated by U.S. during WW II (German American Internee Coalition) I just finished "A Brother's Blood" by Michael C. White. The novel is set in Maine where German prisoners of war (POWs) were detained during World War I.

The novel begins many decades after the war when Wolfgang Kallick arrives in Maine from Germany to find out the details of his brother Dieter's death at the camp. The book is loosely based on the POW camp at Seboomook, Maine.
