Salem, Willamette Valley Wild Weather Gives Way to Heat

Temperatures in Salem and the mid-Willamette valley are expected to climb back into the 90's on Monday.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Oregon Lightning Salem and most parts of Oregon, was greeted Sunday morning by thunderstorms, with lightning and booming thunder, that later in the day produced small hail and gusty winds, but has now worked it's way out of the state giving way to warmer temperatures again.

The thunderstorms did knockout some power in various locations of the state for a short time, and those visiting the Marion County Fair sought cover as the fast moving thunderstorms rolled through the mid-Willamette Valley.

Salem, Willamette Valley Greeted by Morning Thunderstorm

Another thunderstorm is possible this afternoon and evening in the valley, with gusty winds and small hail possible.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - salem thunderstorm A fast moving thunderstorm took Salem and the Willamette Valley by surprise Sunday morning, after days of clear blue skies and warm weather.

Reports into Salem-News.com said booming thunder, and lighting could be heard and seen from Salem, Silverton, Woodburn, McMinnville, and along the north Oregon Coast.

Fire Destroys Motorhome, Starts Grass Fire East of Salem

A nearby farm had to evacuate some animals from a barn during the blaze.

(AUMSVILLE, Ore. ) - Aumsville Fire A motorhome caught fire Saturday afternoon near the town of Aumsville, Ore. just east of Salem causing a nearby field to catch on fire as well.

Aumsville Fire tells Salem-News.com that once first units arrived on scene at 6858 Sherman Road SE, they quickly called in for a second alarm.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - University of Oregon Fireworks Show So if you missed out on any of the great fireworks displays on the 4th of July, never fear. There are plenty of events for the whole family on Saturday before fireworks displays light up the Saturday night skies in the Willamette Valley and the Oregon Coast.

Salem-Keizer Volcanoes - Fireworks after the game tonight against the Hillsboro Hops.

The Volcanoes continue their Patriotic Tribute series with game two versus the Hillsboro Hops. Salem-Keizer will send righty Nick Gonzalez (0-2, 3.94) to the mound to face Hops right-hander (1-0, 0.60). Tickets are still available for Saturday's contest with the gates opening at 5:00 p.m. in advance of a 6:35 p.m. scheduled start.

Salem Area Residents Preparing Now for Summertime Heat

The rest of the week including Independence Day, temperatures will range from the mid to upper 80’s, to lower 70’s.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Oregon Capitol Fountains It’s getting warmer in Oregon! The National Weather Service says on Tuesday in Salem and the mid-Willamette Valley the high temperatures in most cities will reach well into the 90’s.

The rest of the week including Independence Day, temperatures will range from the mid to upper 80’s, to lower 70’s with the chance of showers returning to the valley on Sunday. Come Monday however, the sun should be back with temperatures in the lower 80's.
