Salem, Willamette Valley Greeted by Morning Thunderstorm

Another thunderstorm is possible this afternoon and evening in the valley, with gusty winds and small hail possible.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - A fast moving thunderstorm took Salem and the Willamette Valley by surprise Sunday morning, after days of clear blue skies and warm weather.

Reports into Salem-News.com said booming thunder, and lighting could be heard and seen from Salem, Silverton, Woodburn, McMinnville, Corvallis, Albany, and along the north Oregon Coast.

Light rain poured down along with the storm. High temperatures in the mid-Willamette Valley are expected to reach between 80 and 85 degrees according to the National Weather Service.

Another thunderstorm is possible this afternoon and evening in the valley, with gusty winds and small hail possible.

A heat advisory is in effect for Salem and the mid-Willamette Valley for Monday and Tuesday as temperatures are expected to climb over 100 degrees, and the hot weather is expected to stay in the valley through Friday.
