Brutal Cold Waves Could be Heading for the U.S.

Folks may want to check their supply of fuel for the second half of the winter sooner rather than later, in the event the waves of arctic air develop to their full potential.

(STATE COLLEGE, PA) - AccuWeather reports beginning near or just past the middle of the month, signs are pointing toward waves of frigid air moving southward across North America from the North Pole.

Much of the nation has been experiencing higher-than-average temperatures and lower heating bills so far during the cold weather season, with the exception of some bouts the past couple of weeks.

Winds have knocked down trees and led to scattered power outages. There has even been the risk for avalanches and mudslides in higher elevations.

Northern California Soaking Rain From a Barrage of Storms

It appears that a break from the storms will arrive early next week, allowing for the return of dry weather.

Rescue of HMS Bounty Survivors During Hurricane Sandy

(PORTSMOUTH, VA) - The Coast Guard rescued 14 people from life rafts in the Atlantic Ocean approximately 90 miles southeast of Hatteras N.C., Monday.
