(STATE COLLEGE,, PA Accuweathter.com) - AccuWeather.com reports a barrage of storms from midweek into the weekend will deluge northern California with heavy rounds of rain. The first storm will arrive on Wednesday with breezy conditions and a brief round of rain. The rain may be enough to slow ground travel and delay flights for cities such as San Francisco and Sacramento. According to Western Weather Expert Ken Clark, "Urban, stream and small river flooding are possible Friday into the weekend." By Friday and the weekend, slower-moving storms will drop very heavy rain over the area with a subtropical moisture supply. "In the Santa Cruz Mountains, mountains in the North Bay region and in the foothills and mountains east of the Sacramento Valley and northern most San Joaquin Valley, I am expecting 8 to 12 inches with local amounts of 16 to 18 inches," Clark said. Elsewhere, expect 2 to 4 inches of rain with local amounts of 5 or 6 inches. That amount of rain can not only lead to serious flooding issues in some areas, but also recent burn areas may experience debris flows and mudslides. Snow levels will generally be at or above 7,500 feet during the storms, which is above most of the passes, including Donner Pass. It appears that a break from the storms will arrive early next week, allowing for the return of dry weather.
