Police Investigate Fatal Crash Involving Freight Train

Oregon State Police and local emergency responders are on scene as well as Union Pacific Railroad law enforcement personnel.

(CANBY, Ore.) - Railroad tracks Oregon State Police troopers are on the scene of a, fatal pedestrian accident reported along Highway 99E near South End Road, north of Canby.

Investigators on the scene say they have been determined the situation was caused by a collision with a Union Pacific Railroad train.

UPDATE: Train Derailment in Downtown Corvallis; Streets Now Clear

Crews are now working to repair the tracks.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Portland Western Railroad A Portland & Western Railroad freight train derailed in downtown Corvallis Wednesday just before 11:30 AM.

Several downtown streets in Corvallis were blocked by the train derailment according to the Corvallis Fire Department.

There were no injures reported in the incident.

Drunk Man Nearly Gets Away With Trainjacking

Caleb Gary is being held at the Lane County Jail.

(EUGENE) - handcuffs On Wednesday at about 1:10 AM, deputies from the Lane County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Union Pacific railroad tracks near Judkins Point on the report of an intoxicated subject trying to drive a Union Pacific locomotive engine.

The locomotive was attached to several rail cars.

After being confronted, the subject was reported to be harassing the train crew and refusing to leave.

Aurora Man Safe After Train Crashes Into His Pickup

The train's engine was approximately 30 cars past the crash site before it could fully stop the train, which was estimated to be traveling at 30-35 MPH.

(CANBY) - truck wrecked by train At about 5:40 PM, Canby Firefighters responded to a report of a car hit by a train at 99E and S. Barlow Road.

When Canby Fire Units arrived they transferred the shaken driver into their medic unit to further evaluate the 72-year old gentlemen from Aurora. He told the firefighters that he misjudged the road. He apparently started to cross the railroad tracks and his vehicle became stuck, or high centered on the tracks.

Train Derails and Hits Home in Albany

The home was not destroyed, and the family and their six cats and three dogs were allowed to return after the train car was removed.

(ALBANY) - Train tracks A freight train derailed in Albany early Sunday morning with one of the derailed cars striking a local home. Albany Fire Spokesperson Wanda Omdahl says the 7:00 AM incident could have been much worse, "We arrived to discover that 8 train cars had derailed and hit the home located at 739 SE 6th. The residents of the home were present at the time but no one was injured."

She says the family evacuated along with about six other residents because live wires down onto their home after the train cares derailed and knocked out a power pole.

Police Identify Woman Killed After Train Collides With Truck in Polk County

At the intersection where the accident occurred, there were train crossing signs, but no signal gates.

(INDEPENDENCE) - Train A Willamette & Pacific Railroad engine struck a mini-truck early Thursday morning neat the intersection of Corvallis Rd and Stapleton Rd.

Polk County Fire District No. 1 spokesman Jason Cane says the single engine was heading southbound when it collided with the mini-truck around 6:13 AM.

In May 2005, a similar event drew more than 4,000 rail fans to the siding area adjacent to the park to experience one of America's biggest pieces of rail history up close.

(SALEM) - Train Locomotive SP&S 700 The 2nd Annual SP&S 700 Rail Safety Faire takes place at Salem's Riverfront Park Saturday, September 2nd.

Several thousand train buffs are expected to line the tracks to watch the big steam engine's trip south.

In January, the engine was officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The SP&S 700 received this honor because it is a working example of the peak of proven steam and rail technology as it was at the end of the Age of Steam.

Man Killed by Train in Salem

(SALEM) - Salem police say a 36-year-old man was struck and killed by a Union Pacific freight train early Wednesday morning.

Sgt. Steve Birr says the incident occurred at about 4:00 AM near the intersection of Portland Road and Silverton Road.

The train, was pulling over 50 boxcars, and came to a stop near D Street.

Amtrak Train Bound For Eugene Hits Car, Four Killed

The Amtrak Cascades Train #507 was scheduled for a stop in Salem.

(CASTLE ROCK, Wa.) - The view through the locomotive on an Amtrack in Salem An Amtrak Cascades train from Seattle bound for Eugene struck a car crossing the tracks from a private road Monday afternoon, all four in the car were killed.

The train, was scheduled to make stops in Portland, Salem, and Albany before reaching Eugene.

None of the 123 passengers onboard the train were injured in the incident.

Police say the train was traveling anywhere from 40 to 79 mph, and it took about a half a mile to get the train stopped.
