Boy Struck While Playing `Chicken` With a Freight Train

Kyle Clements is listed in serious condition with multiple fractures and internal injuries.

(JEFFERSON, Ore.) - Police say a 13-year old boy was seriously injured Friday night around 9:20 PM, when he was struck by a freight train near Jefferson, Oregon.

Sgt Jeff Wheeler with the Marion County Sheriff's Office, says that as the mile-long freight train came through town blowing its horn, the boy played "chicken" with it as he walked with friends on the railroad tracks.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - amtrak train Mudslides across the tracks have stopped Amtrak passenger train service between Eugene, Oregon and Vancouver, British Columbia.

Normally, Amtrak Cascades consists of four daily round-trips between Portland and Seattle, with service between Bellingham, Wash., and Portland, via Seattle, between Eugene and Seattle, via Portland, and between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C.

Train Crashes Into Car on Tracks Killing Driver

Weather conditions or other factors causing this accident are still undetermined.

(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - fatal crash investigation A freight train hit a vehicle at a train crossing Saturday night in Clark County and pushed the car up to 3/4 of a mile before it was able to stop.

The driver was the vehicle was located deceased inside the vehicle. At this time the name of the deceased is not being released pending the notification of next of kin.

Train Strikes and Kills Person in Oregon City

The person killed was a 34-year old man, his identity has not been released.

(OREGON CITY) - Railroad tracks Police say a man was struck and killed by a Union Pacific freight train early this morning in Oregon City. Lt Lisa Nunes with Oregon City Police says it happened a few minutes after 3:00 AM.

She says officers were called out to 7th and Railroad in Oregon City, over the report of a subject hit by a train on the railroad tracks. Nunes says the operators of the Union Pacific train reported that a subject was on the tracks and failed to leave the tracks when the train came through.

Limited Amtrak Service to Resume Today

Normally, Amtrak Cascades consists of four daily round-trips between Portland and Seattle.

(OAKLAND, Calif.) - amtrak train photo A routine mechanical inspection of Talgo railcars used in the operation of Amtrak Cascades trains had resulted in a service suspension for the route in the Pacific Northwest through Sunday.

Amtrak is dispatching substitute railcars to the area, and limited restoration of the suspended service is expected to begin on Monday.

One exception to the Amtrak Cascades suspension on the route is that Amtrak will continue to operate trains 510 and 517 between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C.

Freight Car Still Smoldering After Late Night Fire

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Union Pacific.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Train fire in Salem Oregon Salem firefighters say they arrived at the scene of a train fire Monday night to find a fully involved box car packed with paper products on fire.

Fire Department Spokesman Bill Holmstrom says firefighters worked throughout the night separating the paper materials from the box car in the 3800 block of Portland Road NE.

Train Crashes Into Fertilizer Truck North of Keizer

Marion County Fire District Spokesman Bob Jung says cleanup work is continuing at this time. River Road N. is closed while that work continues.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Train crash Keizer, Oregon 53007 Nobody was hurt today when a freight train hit the back of a fertilizer truck that was making its way over the tracks at River Road N. and Brooklake Road at 8:40 AM this morning.

Bob Jung with the Marion County Fire District says the train struck the rear trailer of the fertilizer truck which was not carrying any hazardous materials, instead loaded with inert fertilizer.

Freight Trains Crash in Washington; Amtrak Service Cancelled till Thursday

Burlington Northern Santa Fe owns the tracks and was working to clear the derailment.

(DUPONT, Wash.) - Coast Starlight train Train tracks are closed today between Seattle and Portland after a freight train collision near DuPont, Washington.

The accident occurred at about 3:00 AM, knocking out power for the city of DuPont and closing the Old Nisqually Road on the east side of Interstate 5 near the Mounts Road exit near the Fort Lewis golf course.

Amtrak says the route is used by the Cascades and Coast Starlight trains. Service is expected to be unavailable until sometime Thursday.

Pedestrian Dies From Injuries After Being Struck by Freight Train

The incident was reported by the railroad conductor at 8:34 PM.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Scene at the railroad tracks and McGhilcrist in Salem Salem Police and railroad officials are still on the scene of a train versus pedestrian incident at McGhilcrist St. SE and Pringle. The 38-year old victim has not been identified, pending notification of his next of kin.

Salem Police Sgt Tony Moore says the conductor noticed the man as they approached. "They could see the man walking along the tracks, they were making eye contact."

Victim Identified in May 3rd Fatal Train vs Pedestrian Incident North of Canby

Anyone with information regarding Kevin Anthony Briggs' next of kin is asked to contact the Clackamas County Medical Examiner's Office at (503) 655-8380.

(CANBY, Ore.) - A man killed last Thursday afternoon when he was struck by a Union Pacific Railroad train as he walked across the tracks in front the southbound train has been positively identified.

The victim's name is being released but investigators and the medical examiner's office have not been able to identify or locate next of kin.
