Oregon, Germany Sign Driver License Agreement

Reciprocity deal formalizes current practice between Oregon and Germany.

(SALEM) - Germany Oregon driving Oregon and the Federal Republic of Germany signed an agreement Jan. 17 that continues the practice of waiving drive tests between this state and Germany.

Applicants in Oregon must be at least 18 years old, hold a valid driver license issued by Germany, prove residency in Oregon and are otherwise eligible for a Class C, non-commercial driver license.

Marion County Flooding Update

FBI Releases 2010 Statistics on Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted

Of the 56 officers feloniously killed, 15 were ambushed; 14 of the slain officers were involved in arrest situations; eight were investigating suspicious persons/circumstances.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Oregon police officer Adam Cushman in 2010 According to information released today by the FBI, 56 law enforcement officers were feloniously killed in the line of duty last year; 72 officers died in accidents while performing their duties; and 53,469 officers were assaulted in the line of duty.

The 2010 edition of Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted released today provides comprehensive tabular data about these incidents and brief narratives describing the fatal attacks.

Police Officer-Involved Shooting in Salem

Police are on the scene of an apparent officer-involved shooting in Salem.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Police shooting A police officer-involved shooting took place in Salem early Monday morning according to preliminary reports. It happened on North Liberty about one block south of Pine.

Our News Photographer Jerry Freeman is on the scene and we are beginning to get a picture of what took place. He says witnesses at the scene heard the sound of police sirens, followed by police yelling commands to a suspect, and then multiple gunshots.

Woman Killed By Train Near Gervais

Union Pacific Investigators were assisting with the investigation, which Thomson says is on-going. No further information is available at this time.

(GERVAIS, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Marion County deputies have identified the victim of a fatal train vs. pedestrian collision early Saturday morning, as 53-year old Anna Emerikov, of Gervais. Her family has been notified. No information has been developed as to why she was on the tracks.

Marion County Sheriff spokesman Don Thomson, says deputies responded to a report of a train versus pedestrian accident on the Union Pacific tracks one mile north of Gervais, at approximately 2:00 a.m. Saturday.
