Six injured in Head On Collision East of Newport (PHOTOS)

The crash investigation continues and police say criminal charges are being investigated.

(NEWPORT, Ore.) - Injury crash, Newport, Oregon 8-7-09 Police say six people were injured, one critically, in a head on traffic collision on Thursday, August 6th about 7:00 a.m.

Senior Trooper Carla Urbigkeit of the Newport Area Command, says a 1998 Ford passenger car was westbound on Highway 20 at about milepost 32 when it drifted onto the right shoulder and struck the guardrail. "It then veered into the oncoming lane where it struck an eastbound 2005 Pontiac van head on," Urbigkeit said.

Several Hurt in Highway 18 Van Duzer Corridor Crash

The highway was blocked for four hours.

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore.) - Seven people were injured, two seriously, in a four-vehicle traffic crash Saturday morning on Highway 18 west of the Van Duzer Corridor in Lincoln County.

Oregon State Police Sergeant Justin McGladrey says Saturday at approximately 12:20 p.m. a 1998 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by 44-year old David Carl Josephson of Yacolt, Washington, was stopped behind a group of traffic westbound on Highway 18 near milepost 7 due to an earlier crash about three miles west.

Oregon Highway 18 Blocked Due to Injury Crash

The often busy coastal route closes down on one of the biggest tourism days of the year.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Crash investigation Oregon State Police say they are on the scene of a multiple vehicle crash on Highway 18 just west of Van Duzer Corridor.

The wreck near milepost 8 has temporarily closed the Corridor as emergency crews, police and other crash responders make their way to the scene.

Highway 18 is a mostly rural highway that spans from the Willamette Valley in McMinnville, to the coastal town of Lincoln City and other points north and south.

Crash on McCollough Bridge Halts Traffic for 2 Hours (PHOTOS)

Two people were transported to Bay Area Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

(NORTH BEND, Ore.) - Crash scene on the McCollough Bridge in North Bend, Oregon 6-24-09 Police say a minor injury three car crash on the McCullough this afternoon caused all lanes across the bridge to be closed for about two hours. The McCullough Bridge is located just north of North Bend and spans over Coos Bay.

Oregon State Police Sgt. John Keeler says today around 12:30 p.m., a silver 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by 54-year old Hackie Bernard of Reedsport, was northbound on US 101 going across the McCullough Bridge.

Four Reported Dead in Washington D.C. Train Crash (VIDEO)

Officials say the fatality is the second in Metrorail’s 33-year history.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Crashed trains in Washington D.C. Officials in the nation's capitol city say two six-car Red Line trains collided at 5:00 p.m. today, resulting in two fatalities. One of the people who died is the female train operator. There were also several injuries, many serious, according to preliminary reports.

Metro officials do not know the cause of the collision and are not likely to know the cause for several days as the investigation unfolds. Both trains were on the same track headed toward Shady Grove Metrorail station, according to preliminary reports. The female operator was on the trailing train.

Air France Plane Missing

The plane's crew reported an electric failure and loss of cabin pressure and was lost in a region of the world known for intense tropical storms and lightning.

(PARIS) - Air France flight 447 is missing between Brazil and France. An Air France plane has disappeared while flying from Rio de Janeiro to Paris. There were 228 people aboard the plane included several children.

Air France says they express their deepest sympathy to the relatives and friends of the passengers and crew who were on board AF flight 447 on 31 May 2009, which disappeared somewhere between Rio de Janeiro and Paris-Charles de Gaulle.

Two Teens Die in Woodland Train-Pedestrian Accident (UPDATE)

It is speculated that the two teens were unable to hear the approaching Amtrak because of the sound of a freight train.

(WOODLAND, Wash.) - Train tracks Cowlitz County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the deaths of two teenagers who were struck by an Amtrak train in the south part of Woodland.

Amtrak officials reported that a northbound passenger train had struck two individuals who were standing on the tracks, about a 1/2 mile south of the Davidson Street crossing, at approximately 7:10 p.m.

Drawbridge at Florence, Oregon Stuck in `Up` Position

The south end of the Florence, Oregon drawbridge in locked in the "up" position.

(FLORENCE, Ore.) - Salem-News.com U.S. 101 in Florence is closed due to a drawbridge malfunction on the Siuslaw River Bridge, according to Oregon Department of transportation Spokesman Joe Harwood.

"Northbound and southbound traffic is backed up for a few miles on either end of the bridge," Harwood said.
