North Korea Launches Multi-Stage Rocket Over Japan

Japan did not follow through on a threat to shoot the rocket down.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Taepodong 2 Reports from Seoul indicate that a rocket was launched from North Korea, in spite of calls from world leaders to not do so.

The launch has not been confirmed at this time by Pyonyang. The LA Times reports that is was a multi-stage rocket that could possibly be used to deliver nuclear weapons.

Seattle P-I to Publish Last Edition Tuesday

The Seattle P-I's story on their upcoming last day of print publication.

(SEATTLE, Wash.) - Seattle P I The Hearst Corp. announced Monday that it would stop publishing the 146-year old newspaper, Seattle's oldest business, and cease delivery to more than 117,600 weekday readers.

The company, however, said it would maintain seattlepi.com, making it the nation's largest daily newspaper to shift to an entirely digital news product.

"Tonight we'll be putting the paper to bed for the last time," Editor and Publisher Roger Oglesby told a silent newsroom Monday morning. "But the bloodline will live on."

Also beware of offers that charge consumers for a seminar that will show them how to apply for federal stimulus grants and get rich quick with the money they receive.

(SALEM, Ore.) - scam alert Scammers are already using President Obama’s economic stimulus package to try and rip off consumers.

Email messages ask for bank information, claiming they will directly deposit stimulus money. Instead, scammers drain the consumer’s bank account and vanish.

Two days after receiving the first new Crime Scene Response Vehicle, OSP forensic scientists responded to help during the multi-agency investigation into the Woodburn bank bombing incident.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - OSP forensic police Oregon State Police forensic scientists work got a much-needed boost with the addition of three vehicles specifically designed to meet the unique needs of crime scene response work around the State.

Three specially designed vehicles will replace older units in Clackamas, Bend and Central Point.
