University of Oregon Plans New Softball Stadium With 10 Million Dollar Gift

Oregon won it's second straight Pac-12 title and advanced to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City. The Ducks won two WCWS games for the first time ever, and set a school record with 56 victories.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - The University of Oregon softball team enjoyed tremendous success on the field this season. And now, the Ducks will enjoy a brand new softball facility in the not-too-distant future.

During Saturday evening’s Women in Flight dinner, Athletics Director Rob Mullens announced a $10 million gift from Robert Sanders to Oregon softball that will lead this drive to constructing a new softball stadium.

IRL: Ed Carpenter Wins Shootout in Texas

Juan Pablo Montoya finished a season-high third, and Simon Pagenaud was fourth.

(FORT WORTH, Texas) - It was shaping up to be a shootout between Ed Carpenter and Will Power under the lights at Texas Motor Speedway following the final round of service stops in the Firestone 600. That is until Power lost his weapon.

Power, the Verizon P1 Award winner in the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske car, led more than half of the 248-lap race on the 1.455-mile, high-banked oval but succumbed to a season-long gremlin entering pit lane by not hitting the 60 mph speed limit.

IRL: Power Claims Texas Pole

Four different teams are represented in the top five and seven in the top 10.

(FORT WORTH, Texas ) - Will Power earned his second consecutive Verizon P1 Award for the Verizon IndyCar Series race at Texas Motor Speedway with a two-lap average speed of 218.896 mph on the 1.455-mile, high-banked oval.

Power, driving the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske car, broke a tie with Dario Franchitti for sixth on the all-time Indy car list with his 34th pole and second of the season.

Oregon`s Prandini Prepared to Carry Heavy Load at NCAA`s

Jenna Prandini, a redshirt sophomore, will have a huge say in the Ducks’ attempt at their first outdoor team title since 1985.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Her burden next week is heavy enough to be worthy of a broad-shouldered thrower from the Oregon track and field program.

Instead, Jenna Prandini will use her fleet feet and springy legs in attempting to score in four events at the NCAA Outdoor championships. The meet begins Wednesday at Hayward Field.

NASCAR: Hamlin Wins Pocono Pole With Record Time

Denny Hamlin is a four-time winner at Pocono.

(LONG POND, Pa.) - Denny Hamlin set a new track qualifying record, in the first-ever knockout qualifying session at Pocono Raceway on Friday. With a speed of 181.415 MPH. He will lead the field to green on Sunday in the Pocono 400.

Kurt Busch starts second, and Brad Keselowski, Kevin Harvick and Jeff Gordon round out the top five.

Willamette Men`s Basketball Adds Seven New Recruits

The seven player recruiting class is coming to Willamette from all across the country.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - After the departure of a four-player senior class that featured the 'Cats leading scorer and best three-point shooter throughout the 2013-14 season, the Willamette University men's basketball team has some big shoes to fill.

In an effort to fill that void and provide additional depth to the Bearcat roster, Head Coach Kip Ioane has announced the incoming recruiting class for the 2014-15 season.

Oregon Signs Prized International Recruit Simon Stevens

Robin Cambier was the first Belgian to sign under Schyllander prior to the 2010 season.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - The University of Oregon men’s tennis team signed prized international recruit Simon Stevens to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Nils Schyllander announced on Friday.

Stevens, a native of Charleroi, Belgium, has been ranked as high as No. 152 in the International Tennis Federation junior world rankings.

New Archery Range Opens at EE Wilson Wildlife Area Near Corvallis

The Archery Park is open from sunrise to sunset, seven days a week.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Archers and bow hunters of all skill levels are welcome at ODFW’s new E.E. Wilson Archery Park at EE Wilson Wildlife Area (29555 Camp Adair Road, Monmouth), which is now open to the public.

The new Archery Park offers a five-target range for beginners that can accommodate up to 10 shooters. There is also an eight-target general range for up to 16 shooters at a time.

Ducks Sign JC Linebacker

Oregon is looking to replace departed starting outside linebacker Boseko Lokombo in 2014.

(EUGENE. Ore. ) - Outside linebacker Eddie Heard of Laney College in Oakland, Calif., has signed a financial aid agreement to play at Oregon.

Heard, who plans to be on campus for summer classes, has four years in which to play three at Oregon.
