Marion County Fair Begins Today in Salem

This year's feature concert is on Friday night with the country trio The Henningsens.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Marion County Fair One of the oldest county fair's in Oregon starts today in Salem.

Besides great food booths, carnival rides, and 4-H exhibits, this year there will be the Barnyard Splash and Dash 3K and 5K fun run which features various water, mist and foam features on a closed course.

Salem Union Gospel Mission Store Damaged by Three-Alarm Fire

Fire damage to the structure is estimated at $100,000 to $200,000 and it is anticipated that the main sales area of the building will reopen within the next few days.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Union Gospel Mission Fire At approximately 3:10 a.m. Wednesday morning, fire crews from the Salem Fire Department were dispatched to the 800 block of Commercial Street NE in Salem, for a commercial structure fire.

The call was reported via 911 by a railroad train engineer who noticed flames showing on the west side of the business.

10 Foot Boa Located in Southeast Salem Home

The Sheriff's office would like to thank all of the citizens who offered their help during this strange incident.

(SALEM, Ore.) - 10 foot boa Residence in southeast Salem can breathe a little easier today, after Nomad, the nomadic 10 foot boa, has been located.

According to the snakes owner she found a hole in the sheet rock inside of their residence and climbed inside of a wall, where she remained until she was located.

Salem Teen Drowns at Three Pools Just Days After His Birthday

An impromptu memorial was held Tuesday at Houck Middle School at 1:30 p.m.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Sean Kaleopa As Salem-News.com was first to report just after 3:00 p.m. on Monday, emergency responders and the Marion County Sheriff's office responded to a fatal drowning at the three pools day use area on the North Fork of the Santiam River which is located 17 miles up from Ore. Highway 22, and 45 miles east of Salem.

The Marion County Sheriff's office has positively identified the boy who tragically drowned as 14-year-old Sean Kaleopa of Salem, who had just celebrated his birthday on July 4.

Sheriff`s Office Seeks Donations to Help Oregon Special Olympics Athletes

LETR is a grassroots funds raiser that benefits the Special Olympics Oregon athletes.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Marion County Sheriff's Office This Friday the Marion County Sheriff's Office will take part in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run.

On Friday the 11th at 8:15 a.m., at the Jefferson Home Town Market, the Sherriff's Office will be passed the torch and then carry it approximately 10 miles, to Delaney Road and Interstate 5 where it will be passed to the Salem Police Department.

Salem Man Kills Older Brother With Sword

Neighbor's in the area that spoke with Salem-News.com said that drug activity is very high in the area.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem-News.com The man Salem Police arrested July 3 for stabbing his brother to death has been formally charged with murder.

50-year-old Jon Louis Bush was in Marion County Courtroom on Monday to hear the charges against him. The Judge placed a no bail hold on Bush, and he remains incarcerated at the Marion County Jail.

On the third day employees grew suspicious and went along on the test drive.
