Man Calls Salem Hospital with Firearm Threat

Access is available through Building A emergency department, the same access used during evenings.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Hospital is on a modified lockdown after a potentially hazardous situation early Tuesday morning.

Police say a man called in around 6:55 a.m. saying he had a firearm.

Police are allowing traffic in the area which is located at 890 Oak St southeast, near Willamette University.

Salem-News.com was able to talk with a couple of Salem Hospital employees by phone and they said that they and others already inside the hospital were able to move around, but cannot leave.

No injures have been reported.

Salem Hospital is open for business as usual with the following security changes in building access for the time being to ensure public and patient safety. Additional staff are also being brought in to help deal with the situation.

Access is available through Building A emergency department, the same access used during evenings.

For specific buildings:

Building A: Enter through the emergency department. Building B: Use front entrance on Winter Street. Building C: Enter through basement parking lot or through Building A. Building D: Use Building A entrance. Building E: Is always locked.
