Lightning Causes Fires, Power Outages in Salem Overnight

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Oregon Lightning Salem, the mid-Willamette Valley, and the Oregon Coast range got a great lighting show, and the sound of booming thunder echoed throughout the valley overnight.

Reports into Salem-News.com and on social media had reports of lighting and thunder from Salem, Albany, Corvallis, parts of Eugene, McMinnville, Dallas, and the Oregon Coast Range.

Salem Police Arrest Two Armed Robbery Suspects

The suspects allegedly stole another juveniles bike at gunpoint.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Police Car Salem Police have arrested two juveniles who they say took part in an armed robbery on July 19.

Lt. Steve Birr with Salem Police says Thursday night around 8:00 p.m., detectives from the criminal investigations division and the street crimes unit, along with the Salem Police SWAT team, served a search warrant in the 4900 block of Sunnyside Road SE.

Salem Police Issue 50 Tickets During Crosswalk Safety Campaign

This safety campaign was conducted in partnership with Oregon Impact in order to address pedestrian and crosswalk safety.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Oregon Police The Salem Police Department conducted a four-hour pedestrian crosswalk project on Wednesday on Commercial Street NE at Columbia Street.

This location has a marked, painted crosswalk, police said. Eight officers participated in the project which included an officer dressed in plain clothes who crossed the street in the crosswalk.

Volcanoes Rally to Stun Dust Devils

The Volcanoes are now 7-2 in the Northwest League second half.

(PASCO, Wash. ) - Salem Keizer Volcanoes Salem-Keizer claimed a come-from-behind win over Tri-City 8-7 Wednesday night in front of 1,358 at Gesa Satdium.

The Volcanoes were down 6-1 entering action in the top of the seventh inning, and finished the game on a 7-1 comeback, including four runs in the top of the ninth inning to claim the first game of the five-game series against the Dust Devils.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Hoopla Dunk Workers in and around the Oregon State Capitol Mall may smell something they haven't smelled in a long, long, time.

That smell will be coming from just in front of the Capitol steps at the Bob's Hamburgers booth, which is part of this year's Oregon National Guard Hoopla. State workers, and everyone can enjoy a Salem classic starting at 11:00 a.m. till 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.

Police Need Help Locating Armed Suspect NE of Salem

At this point, deputies believe when the man fled he may have been armed with a shotgun.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Marion County Sheriff The Marion County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a suspect who stole a vehicle from home around 3:00 p.m. on Monday.

Marion County Sheriff's spokesman Sergeant Chris Baldridge says residents near Seminole Road NE and Mustang Road NE interrupted a burglary of their residence.

Salem Armed Stand-Off Ends With Suspect in Custody (VIDEO)

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem-News.com Salem Police officers along with the Salem Police SWAT team and negotiators, were able to take a wanted man into custody Sunday after he barricaded himself inside a home.

Salem police were called just before 8:00 a.m. to the 3200 block of River Road N, on a report that a subject wanted on several Domestic Violence charges and a Parole Violation warrant was in the area.
