Oregon Guard`s 41st Brigade Combat Team Mobilizes for Iraq Deployment

The 41st will conduct four mobilization ceremonies the first week in May in preparation for training at Camp Stewart, Georgia, then deployment to Iraq.

(TIGARD, Ore.) - Salem-News.com The ceremonies in Portland, Bend, Eugene, and Medford will give local communities an opportunity to wish the soldiers well as they depart on what is the largest deployment of the Oregon National Guard since World War II.

Nearly 2,700 soldiers from Oregon and five companies of soldiers totaling 700 personnel from Delaware, Massachusetts, Nebraska and New Mexico will spend about two months training followed by ten months in Iraq.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - American soldiers in Iraq, August 2008 PTSD is NOT a single specific entity. As a Combat Infantryman I saw several different versions. “Combat fatigue” doesn’t cover it.

As Infantrymen we were almost always exhausted. “Shellshock” is most likely concussion replaced now by “traumatic brain injury” (TBI).

The Faces of Four Americans Killed in Iraq and Afghanistan

Too many members of the military die without any fanfare whatsoever.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Cpl. Francisco X. Aguila, Sgt. Raul Moncada, PFC Richard A. Dewater and Spc. Michael J. Anaya Four American soldiers have died over the course of the last eight days in Iraq and Afghanistan. For the first time, Salem-News.com was able to publish photos of all of the soldiers, adding a face to a name of those lost at war.

The soldiers all had active MySpace pages and anyone who would take the time to look at their pages, would see the full lives that each had.

As of October 2006, 600 thousand Iraq Vets sought VA medical care, according to President Obama in his speech of April 9, 500 thousand Veterans requests have been denied.

Seven individuals and all ex-POWs from the State of Oregon are slated to be inducted; over 650 people will be in attendance, including 75 ex-POWs and 21 ex-POW representatives.
