AAA Says Gas, Crude Prices Are Moving Up

Retail gas prices are on the rise this week. The national average for regular unleaded jumps a nickel to $2.66, and Oregon's average gains two cents to $2.75.

Portland Police Officer Killed in Traffic Accident

Criminalist Adam Cushman was with the bureau's Forensic Evidence Division.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Adam Cushman is survived by his wife, and two children. Portland Police Bureau Criminalist Adam Cushman was killed Feb. 21, 2010 at approximately 6:30 p.m. when the vehicle he was driving hit a truck in the 7300 Block of Northeast 182nd Avenue in Vancouver, Washington.

Criminal profiling is the act of pulling over or stopping an individual without cause, generally based on appearance stereotypes.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com A developing story in Oregon involves the dishonesty of police officers, and the judges who make the final call on their actions. When you think about it, the entire system is a conflict of interest because the traffic officers and the judges are on the same team. This creates real problems.

The issues ring back to the 1950's and 1960's when police all over the U.S. were involved in suppressing people over race, gender, economic status, and their physical appearance.

Gresham Police Search for Suspect in Triple Stabbing

Police ask anyone who sees the suspect to call 911.

(GRESHAM, Ore.) - 17-year old Omar Magana of Portland On January 31, 2010 at 12:34 am Gresham Police were dispatched to a fight in the area of NE 177th and NE Couch, after learning that three people were stabbed in a fight. The three reportedly then drove to Mount Hood Medical Center.

Sgt. Richard Wilson with Gresham Police, says detectives were called out to investigate.

Man Dies After Setting Himself on Fire

Portland Firefighters respond to reports of a human being who lit himself on fire.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Death investigation Firefighters in Portland responded to reports that a man had set himself on fire this morning just after 11:00 a.m. Lt.Damon Simmons with Portland Fire & Rescue, says this incident occurred on the NE corner of 12th and Yamhill.

"On arrival firefighters found an adult male who was not on fire but had serious burn injuries. Reports indicate that the man was put out by two Portland Police Officers and bystanders."

OR 2010 Homeless Count: A Sad but Significant Tally (AUDIO REPORT)

Last year's one-night tally counted just over 17,000 Oregonians, including 4,300 children.

(SALEM, Ore. ONS) - Homeless man This week, an army of volunteers visits shelters, food pantries, tent cities and even jails in an attempt to count the number of homeless people in every state.

In the 2008 survey, Oregon topped the list for the highest per-capita number of homeless people, at just over one-half percent of the population.
