Oregon Coast Plane Crash Victims Identified

Authorities are asking the local public and visitors not to touch any debris that may wash-up onshore.

(FLORENCE, Ore. ) - Authorities are still searching for a 15-year-old boy one day after he and his grandfather were in a Grumman American AA5, that crashed into the water about two miles north of Florence along the Oregon Coast.

Oregon Coast Waterways to Become Safer With New Patrol Boat

The new patrol boat is designed for all weather conditions.

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore. ) - The Pacific Ocean, rivers and lakes near Lincoln City will soon be safer as the Oregon State Marine Board helped the Lincoln County Sheriff secure a new marine patrol boat.

A 22-foot, full cabin boat, manufactured by River Wild, located in Grants Pass, Oregon, will replace a 1982 Monark and a 1997 safe boat.

Plane Crash Along Oregon Coast Kills 2, Injures 1

NTSB and FAA investigators are on scene trying to determine the cause of the crash.

(TOLEDO, Ore. ) - RV-10 aircraft Two people are dead, and another injured after the plane they were in crashed onto the Georgia Pacific Paper Mill property in Toledo along the Oregon Coast.

Toledo Police say the plane crashed shortly after take-off from the Newport Airport, and was headed east when it lost altitude and slammed into the mill’s parking lot just before 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Two Dead in Crash on Oregon Highway 22 Near Dallas

The male drivers of both vehicles were pronounced deceased at the scene.

(DALLAS) - Fatal crash Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of Polk County District Attorney's Office and Keizer Police Department, are continuing the investigation into the cause of a Friday evening two vehicle double fatal traffic crash along Highway 22 about three miles west of Dallas.

The crash resulted in the death of two males and serious injuries to another male and a female.

Orphan Snowy Plover Chicks and Adult Set for Release on Oregon Coast

The western snowy plover is a native shore bird that lives on the beach year-round.

(NEWPORT, OR) - Oregon Coast Aquarium Five abandoned snowy plover chicks and a rehabilitated adult male are being released back to the wild by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and partners.

The birds, federally and state listed as threatened, were rescued in early July by plover monitors from the Institute for Natural Resources, Portland State University and U.S. Forest Service staff.

Pedestrian Killed on Hwy101

There is no marked crosswalk where the victim was crossing the highway.

(YACHATS OR) - Oregon State Police (OSP) is investigating the cause of a pedestrian-involved fatal traffic crash Friday afternoon that occurred along Highway 101 approximately a half mile north of Yachats.

Police say David W. Redetzke, age 75, from Yachats, was walking across Highway 101 from where he resides on the east side to the west side when he was struck in the southbound lane by a 2002 Dodge Neon passenger car.

Vancouver Woman Drowns at Lincoln City

It happened at the popular D River Wayside beach park.

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore.) - Beach safety sign A 54-year old woman died Friday morning in a drowning accident off a Lincoln City-area beach state wayside. Oregon State Police (OSP) and Lincoln County Medical Examiner are conducting the death investigation.

Whale Carcass Washes Ashore

Tampering with or collecting pieces from a dead whale is prohibited by federal law.

(BROOKINGS OR) - Dead whale A 40' sperm whale carcass washed ashore near Chetco Point in Curry County early in the morning on June 27.

The whale is already heavily decomposed and resting on a beach where the sand is shallow, so no attempt will be made to bury it.

Oregon State Police Arrests Department`s Newport Office Evidence Technician Following Alleged Theft of Cash From Evidence Room

OSP started an investigation Wednesday morning after a sworn employee discovered the Newport Area Command office evidence room in a disheveled state including opened evidence packaging.

(NEWPORT) - 37-year old Paula Diane Bell Oregon State Police (OSP) arrested one of their evidence technicians Wednesday following the alleged theft of money from the Department's evidence room at the Newport Area Command office.

The non-sworn employee arrested has been lodged in jail and placed on unpaid administrative leave pending an ongoing criminal investigation.
