Cinebarre Theater Opens in Salem

After three months of renovations, Cinebarre executives cut the ribbon November 5 at the old Regal Movieland location, in the heart of Salem, on High and Marion Streets.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Cinebarre in Salem, Oregon Cinebarre, the latest venue to open in Salem, promises to entertain the 18-and over crowd with the latest hit movies and a full restaurant menu, including beer and wine.

The grand opening tonight will feature A Christmas Carol, The Box and The Fourth Kind, among other new releases. Although most showings will be of first-run films, Cinebarre's special events include important sports games, Oscar parties, and sometimes classics.

Local Book Publisher Announces Major Movie Deal

The Halcyon Company is a privately financed, media development, production and financing company, headed by co-CEOs Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek.

(WATERVILLE, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Kris Millegan, co-publisher of TrineDay Books in Walterville (near Springfield) has announced plans to turn one of the company’s books into a major motion picture.

The Halcyon Company (that owns the rights to the Terminator franchise) will be bringing TrineDay author Daniel Estulin's international bestseller “The True Story of the Bilderberg Group” to the big screen.

If you men don’t have men friends that you can really talk to about your life, then get out there and find them. Start your own group at a local coffee house, away from the women, or through your church or synagogue.

When a man reaches a certain age and he’s depressed, he’s struggling with his place in the world, he’s going through family problems or a divorce, or financial and job worries, etc., where can he turn?

Add into the mix that he’s a single dad and has no immediate family around and you have my situation, a few years ago.

Will the Kids Ever Leave?

This is Bruce's 25th article on Salem-News.com.

(AGOURA, Calif.) - Leaving home What an interesting contemporary question: will our kids ever leave? I left home at sixteen to go away to college and never returned, except for visits.

I stayed close to my parents, and they did help me financially through college, though I worked every summer to supplement my education expenses and pay for my own spending. ShortRib (my wife) and I wonder when will our kids be independent enough to afford to leave?

(AGOURA, Calif.) - Diversity Diversity is a nine-letter word; so is parenting. ShortRib (my wife) and I met a wonderful couple on our recent honeymoon that, at first, we thought and they thought represented the most diversity in a couple any of us knew.

In fact, they were written up as just such a phenomenon in a local paper in their hometown. David is a 55-year-old, liberal, white Jewish lawyer, while Farah is a 40-year-old, conservative, black Christian, non-profit worker.

Patrick Swayze Battles Pancreatic Cancer as the World Watches and Prays

As one of the nation's top actors remains very sick with terminal pancreatic cancer, Patrick Swayze's fans continue to express their feelings about him in our story comments.

Veterans to be Honored at Flags of our Fathers Premier

As a sign of gratitude for their service in the military, the veterans and members of the military attending the screening will receive a commemorative DVD produced by the NCHA featuring rare documentary footage taken on Iwo Jima during the famous WWII battle.

American pilots, who chose to enter WW1 before the U.S. officially became involved, joined a French Air Service organization called the Lafayette Escadrille. They fought and died and were cherished by France. The movie debuts today.

(SALEM) - Eugene Bullard A movie set to debut in October called The Flyboys casts these historic pilots in a Top Gun sort of way. The pilots in WW1 were little more than kids, with the early 20’s being the average age.
