Professor Sir Simon Wessely - Right or Wrong?

It has been shown time and again that Professor Sir Simon’s published assertions about disorders such as ME/CFS, fibromyalgia, Gulf War Syndrome, the Camelford drinking water poisoning, and interstitial cystitis are simply wrong.

(LONDON) - Professor Sir Simon Wessely When a professional person – especially a doctor – has repeatedly been shown to be wrong in their professional judgment and, as a direct consequence, people have been harmed, that doctor should surely be held personally responsible and accountable.

In such circumstances legitimate criticism should not be dismissed as an ad hominem (personal) attack.

Doughboys and Dumb Things Humans Have Done

The Last of the Doughboys: The Forgotten Generation and Their Forgotten War by Richard Rubin is 500 pages of excellent history of World War I but without the appropriate rejection of the decision to go to war or the embarrassment one should feel for those who thought they could find glory or goodness by joining in that mass murdering madness.

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Flanders Field This November 11th at 11 a.m. will mark 95 years since World War I ended. Next July 28th will mark 100 years since it started.

The world war, the great war, the war for no good reason, the war of poison gas, the war to end all wars, the war of mass stupidity, the war that went on for days after the Germans agreed to end it, the war that continued until 11 a.m. as that time had been set to end it, the war whose last man killed in action was a suicidal American who ran at the Germans at 10:59...

Israel Benefits as World Loses

Is there any point in public debate in a society where hardly anyone has been taught how to think, while millions have been taught what to think? --Peter Hitchens

(MANAMA, Bahrain) - US greed What started off as Arab Spring has turned morbidly into Arab Fall. What began as a seasonal description became directional and self-destructive.

Not only have movements that looked promising failed to benefit anyone but Israel, they have drawn their sponsors exorbitantly toward bankruptcy.

No Glory in War for this Veteran

Veterans Day ceremonies are part of a false promise of victory against those who would no more be defeated and mastered than would we.

(PORTLAND, OR) - Burning HUMVEE I am a veteran – of the Vietnam era, as are my friends and my brothers. My father, uncles, and an aunt were veterans of World War II. A great uncle was stationed on a battleship during World War I. A great-grandfather fought in the Civil War, an immigrant in an Illinois regiment who suffered the rest of his life from his bullet wound.

Veterans Day on November 11 was formerly Armistice Day, celebrating the end of the Great War. But it has turned from a celebration of peace to a celebration of the false glory of war.

The Dangers of Doing Business in Rwanda, Foreign Investors Beware!

Foreign investors beware! According to new laws, your business too could be seized as “abandoned” if you do not reside in Rwanda.

(WASHINGTON DC) - Rujugiro The Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda makes for good reading and at first glance, one feels hope and prosperity for the landlocked country of Rwanda.

However, once one embarks on further research of how these amendments are put into practice it is a quick lesson in the saying “not worth the paper it is written on.” For example, the constitution declares there is freedom of speech, freedom for political groups to exist and protection of human rights.

The ambiguity wall has protected Israel’s growing nuclear arsenal from the world’s eyes since the 1950s. In 1986, Mordechai Vanunu, an Israeli nuclear technician working in Dimona, breached the wall when he leaked the country’s nuclear secrets to a British newspaper.

François Hollande`s Missteps Put France on Levant Sidelines

Some observers are suggesting that the French president has decided to seek refuge from the fallout...

(BEIRUT) - François Hollande In modern times, France has done far better diplomatically when it has advocated against impetuous military involvement in the internal affairs of other countries. French standing in international politics has been highest when its government was cautious about its military involvement, when it adopted the wise posture of Old World Europe, counseling the impetuous upstarts of the New World.

When Charles de Gaulle told Kennedy, then Johnson, to stay out of Vietnam, his international standing skyrocketed.

Stars & Stripes: JPAC Admits to Phony Ceremonies Honoring `Returning` Remains

The ceremonies at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii are held up as a sign of the nation’s commitment to its fallen warriors.

(WASHINGTON DC) - An honor detail comprised of joint military members prepares to escort the remains of fallen servicemembers who died during World War II and the Vietnam War The Department of Defense unit charged with recovering servicemembers’ remains abroad has been holding phony “arrival ceremonies” for seven years, with an honor guard carrying flag-draped coffins off of a cargo plane as though they held the remains returning that day from old battlefields.
