Sweet Home Man Dies While Trimming a Tree

The victim fell from a fir tree, approximately 52 feet off the ground.

(SWEET HOME, Ore.) - Sweet Home, Oregon Linn County Sheriff Bruce Riley reports his deputies are investigating the death of a Sweet Home man that fell while trimming a tree.

Today at 10:21 a.m. deputies responded to R & L Excavating on Crescent Hill Road in Sweet Home, after being notified by Sweet Home Fire of a fatal tree-trimming accident.

Brittany Maynard Dies With Dignity From Brain Cancer

Death Comes Peacefully After Taking Aid-in-Dying Medication

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Brittany Maynard Twenty-nine year-old Brittany Maynard's public story of bravely enduring brain cancer touched the hearts of millions of Americans. She died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 1 in her Portland home, surrounded by family and friends.

Brittany suffered increasingly frequent and longer seizures, severe head and neck pain, and stroke-like symptoms. As symptoms grew more severe she chose to abbreviate the dying process by taking the aid-in-dying medication she had received months ago.

Oregon Releases Comprehensive Report on Abuse in Community, Licensed Facilities for 2013

Substantiated perpetrators of all types of abuse were comprised of 59% family members.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - abuse in Oregon The Oregon Office of Adult Abuse Prevention and Investigations (OAAPI) released today the 2013 comprehensive report on abuse related to seniors, adults with all types of disabilities and children in licensed treatment settings.

Last year, DHS received over 35,000 reports of suspected abuse or neglect of vulnerable Oregonians.

The Oregon Marine Reserves Partnership (OMRP) was founded by six member organizations: Audubon Society of Portland, Coast Range Association, Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition, Oceana, Surfrider Foundation, and The Nature Conservancy.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - womens health report card Oregon is ranked #26 in the country and received a final grade of C in the 2014 Women’s Health Report Card released today by Oregon Action and The Main Street Alliance of Oregon.

The report card provides an important measure of the state’s record on women’s health as politicians court women voters ahead of the November elections and continue to debate how to combat persistent racial disparities in health.

A crippling social injustice toward a silent minority- the elderly.

(SALEM, Ore.) - elder abuse Child abuse is heard of and seen in the media almost daily in the United States. It is something that drives people to donate money to help children in need, to have people rally together to fundraise, and the thought of a helpless child being abused is like a dagger to the heart for most people.

What is even more painful is that there is another defenseless group of humans being abused where stories of it rarely make it to the television, that people rarely think about, and that not many people think about donating money towards: our elders.

Driver Arrested Following Fatal Traffic Crash on OR Hwy 97

Alcohol and reckless driving are two of the five charges against Fix.

(REDMOND, Ore.) - Fatal crash on Hwy 97 Preliminary investigation indicates a 1997 Chevrolet Suburban driven by 32-year old William Wayne Fix from Redmond, was traveling northbound in a reckless manner when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a rock embankment where it rolled and came to rest on its side.

Passenger 7-year old Phoenix Marie Price from Redmond, was pronounced deceased at the scene. She is reportedly the driver's stepdaughter.

Driver Dies Following Serious Injury Crash - Highway 99E south of Oregon City

Car trouble ends in tragedy near Oregon City.

(OREGON CITY, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Three people were transported to a Portland-area hospital and one of the individuals died after arrival. All lanes were open about 6:00 p.m.

On September 22, 2014 at approximately 2:45 p.m., a 2000 Nissan Frontier pickup with two occupants was southbound on Highway 99E at milepost 16 when the driver pulled over and stopped due to a problem with the pickup on a limited shoulder about 3 feet wide and partially in the right hand lane.

Visual observation of scum on river from southern end of Ross Island to Fremont Bridge

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - ross island bridge The Oregon Health Authority is issuing a health advisory today, September 16, based on visual observation of scum on the Willamette River, extending from the southern end of Ross Island downstream to the Fremont Bridge in Multnomah County.

Water monitoring is underway to determine the species and amount of blue-green algae cells present in the river.
