Sweet Home Man Dies While Trimming a Tree

The victim fell from a fir tree, approximately 52 feet off the ground.

(SWEET HOME, Ore.) - Linn County Sheriff Bruce Riley reports his deputies are investigating the death of a Sweet Home man that fell while trimming a tree.

Today at 10:21 a.m. deputies responded to R & L Excavating on Crescent Hill Road in Sweet Home, after being notified by Sweet Home Fire of a fatal tree-trimming accident.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Twenty-nine year-old Brittany Maynard's public story of bravely enduring brain cancer touched the hearts of millions of Americans. She died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 1 in her Portland home, surrounded by family and friends.

Brittany suffered increasingly frequent and longer seizures, severe head and neck pain, and stroke-like symptoms. As symptoms grew more severe she chose to abbreviate the dying process by taking the aid-in-dying medication she had received months ago.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - The Oregon Office of Adult Abuse Prevention and Investigations (OAAPI) released today the 2013 comprehensive report on abuse related to seniors, adults with all types of disabilities and children in licensed treatment settings.

Last year, DHS received over 35,000 reports of suspected abuse or neglect of vulnerable Oregonians.

(REDMOND, Ore.) - Preliminary investigation indicates a 1997 Chevrolet Suburban driven by 32-year old William Wayne Fix from Redmond, was traveling northbound in a reckless manner when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a rock embankment where it rolled and came to rest on its side.

Passenger 7-year old Phoenix Marie Price from Redmond, was pronounced deceased at the scene. She is reportedly the driver's stepdaughter.

(OREGON CITY, Ore.) - Three people were transported to a Portland-area hospital and one of the individuals died after arrival. All lanes were open about 6:00 p.m.

On September 22, 2014 at approximately 2:45 p.m., a 2000 Nissan Frontier pickup with two occupants was southbound on Highway 99E at milepost 16 when the driver pulled over and stopped due to a problem with the pickup on a limited shoulder about 3 feet wide and partially in the right hand lane.

Portland: Health Advisory Issued for Willamette River

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - The Oregon Health Authority is issuing a health advisory today, September 16, based on visual observation of scum on the Willamette River, extending from the southern end of Ross Island downstream to the Fremont Bridge in Multnomah County.

Water monitoring is underway to determine the species and amount of blue-green algae cells present in the river.
