Oregon Police Take Lead in Search for Missing Couple

Police want to talk to anyone who may have seen or talked to 73-year old Kenneth W. Miller and 69-year old Betty Lou Japel in the last year. The couple traveled to Arizona frequently, the last place they were seen alive is Oregon.

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - Betty Japel and Ken Miller Unexpected twists and turns and an extended span of time are problems complicating a criminal case out of Quartzsite, Arizona that involves two Oregon residents. The saga leaves one man dead, a police officer injured from gunshot wounds, and a growing mystery shrouding the facts behind an Oregon couple's disappearance.

73-year old Kenneth W. Miller and 69-year old Betty Lou Japel were last seen over a year ago. The McMinnville, Oregon couple spent years on the road traveling in their motorhome, towing a Dodge pick-up truck behind them.

Since March, McMinnville and Salem police have been investigating Internet downloads of child pornography by the man.

Eugene Woman Faces Long List of Charges Following Rollover Crash

The woman was transported to Yamhill County Jail for DUII processing then taken to a local hospital for an examination of possible injuries related to the crash.

(McMINNVILLE, Ore. ) - osp duii photo A Eugene-area woman was arrested Thursday night for DUII and other charges after she was involved in a rollover crash on Highway 99W then drove her wrecked car about 1/2 mile causing pavement damage before she was stopped.

At approximately 9:40 PM a 2003 Toyota Corolla driven by 22-year-old Stefani Talbot, from Eugene, was involved in a rollover crash on Highway 99W near SE Yampo Road in Polk County.

Following the crash, Talbot then drove north about 1/2 mile on Highway 99W into Yamhill County on flat tires and bent axles.

Oregon Inmates Use Prosthesis to Smuggle Tobacco into Jail

Tobacco was banished from the Yamhill County Jail in 1991.

(McMINNVILLE, Ore. ) - yamhill county sheriff Four people are accused of trying to smuggle chewing tobacco into the Yamhill County Jail by hiding it in a prosthetic leg.

Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree says an inmate faked a fall and damage to the leg, and a former inmate picked it up for repair.

Deputies said when the leg came back, they found about two cans worth of chewing tobacco sealed in foil and hidden in a hollow section.

McMinnville Man Faces Murder Charge After Stabbing Saturday

Bradley Scott Seifried, of McMinnville faces one count of murder.

(DAYTON) - Yamhill County Sheriff's Deputies and Oregon State Police responded Saturday with medical personnel to 14145 SE Stringtown Road, in Dayton, following a report that an injured woman needed medical attention at that location.

Upon arrival, Deputies located the body of 46-year old Ann Claire Kreder, of that address, the apparent victim of a stabbing.

Linfield Basketball Player Killed in Car Wreck

In the wake of the team tragedy, the Linfield women's basketball team has cancelled Friday's season opening game at Cascade College.

(McMINNVILLE) - Chelsea Peterson Counselors and staff at Linfield College are meeting with students and faculty after learning that Linfield College student Chelsea Peterson (Fr., Hockinson, Wash.) died early Sunday morning in a single car accident near Newberg.

Peterson was 18.

"She was a young lady with great spirit and determination," said Robyn Stewart, women's basketball coach at Linfield. "She always had a smile on her face and was encouraging and positive to her teammates. She had a bright future as a basketball player."

Haunted Oregon Radio Station Still Restless Decades Later

Spirits that disturb the former radio station seem to have only become more troublesome with time.

(McMINNVILLE) - Tim King in 1991 as the News Director of KLYC Ghosthunting first became an interest of mine in 1991 when I was the News Director of KLYC AM 1260 FM Radio in McMinnville, Oregon. Gathering, writing and delivering the news in this rural farming community was an interesting gig, though I think I blew the farmers minds more than once with my selection of material.

Maybe they weren't used to hearing about how ghosts and haunted buildings are very prominent in Oregon's Willamette Valley. For that matter, I wasn't either. As it turned out, I gained more of an education in a short time than I expected to, and it was a good basis for work I would continuing doing.

McMinnville Man Charged with Eluding Police in Van Duzer Corridor

(McMINNVILLE) - Jose Avila Del Rayo A McMinnville man was arrested early Monday morning after a police pursuit, charged with Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants and driving 109 mile per hour in a Safety Corridor.

30-year old Jose Avila Del Rayo of McMinnville, was also charged with Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, and Reckless Driving.

Crash Near McMinnville Injures Two

(McMINNVILLE) - Crash art Police are investigating a serious injury crash that happened early Saturday morning on SE Lafayette Highway, about 5 miles south of McMinnville near Walnut Hill Road. Two people were injured. Police say there may have been others, but they were gone from the scene before officers arrived.

Investigators are trying to identify three others who may have been transported from the scene by a second vehicle.

Police say this morning at approximately 5:15 AM, a 1989 Ford Mustang was reportedly northbound in the southbound lane of SE Lafayette Highway near milepost 5.5.
