(VALLEY JUNCTION ) - A one vehicle crash on Oregon 22 West took the life of an 89-year-old Longview Washington man on Monday night.

At 6:45 PM OSP Troopers from the McMinville office responded to a report of a vehicle off the highway at mile post 14.7 in Yamhill County.

The location is 10 miles west of Valley Junction.

Troopers found a 2001 Toyota Camry partially submerged in Cedar Creek.

The operator Herbert C. Hein from Longview, Washington was deceased at the scene.

The passenger and wife of the driver, Fay L. Phillips-Hein survived the crash with minor injuries. She was transported to Willamette Valley hospital in McMinville for treatment.

Troopers determined that at the time of the crash the Toyota was west bound toward the Oregon coast when the driver lost control, crossed the east bound lanes and left the highway.

The car appears to have rolled at least one time and come to rest in Cedar Creek.

Both the driver and passenger were wearing seat belts and the cars air bags did not deploy.
