Richard Kreitzer Marion County Assessor Found Deceased at Home

The family appointed a spokesman to issue a statement this afternoon on the steps of the Marion County Courthouse (below).

(SALEM, Ore.) - Richard Kreitzer Marion County Assessor Richard Kreitzer was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at his SE Salem home on Tuesday evening.

A friend called Deputies to the residence after he arrived and became concerned that the overhead garage door open, but he was unable to find his friend.

Seized Horses Near Silverton Neglected, Officials Say

Five horses were on the property.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Neglected horses, Marion County, Oregon 25 Feb 2011 Deputies and volunteers from two horse rescue organizations joined forces to remove five horses from a field in Silverton on Friday morning.

A caller reporting neglect Thursday, saying the horses had been left by their owners in a field in the 6900 block of Quarry Road NE, outside of Silverton.

Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 1995 Ford Thunderbird that had been driven through the front wall of Creative Hair Design, a hair-styling business, located at 4684 Portland Rd NE, Salem.

Foggy Crash into Mill Creek Leaves One Dead, One Critical

Investigators say it's unclear at this point what caused the crash, but alcohol involvement has not yet been ruled out.

Crews Battle Commercial Fire in Salem

In all, nearly 50 firefighters from several agencies responded to the incident. This fire was controlled in less than two hours.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Fire in Salen, Oregon at Ross Const. Firefighters from the Marion County Fire District battled a fire that broke out at a commercial building in Salem Friday morning at 11:17 a.m.

Firefighters from Marion County Fire District #1 were dispatched to the report of a commercial fire at Ross Construction Company located at 3501 Brooklake Rd NE, Salem.

The Chief was heading to a structure fire at a business in the 3500 block of Brooklake Road NE, traveling westbound, when a vehicle he was passing turned left into his path.

Marion County Traffic Safety Team Announces Cell Phone Operation

* RESULTS OF OPERATION *

(SALEM, Ore.) - Officer giving a ticket Marion County Traffic Safety Team Deputies issued 39 citations for violation of the Oregon cell phone law during the focused cell phone operation on Friday afternoon. Most of the citations were issued in the area of Lancaster Drive NE and Highway 22.

In addition to the cell phone citations, they also issued 2 citations for speed racing, 6 for driving without a seatbelt, 3 for driving without insurance. Additionally, 3 drivers were issued warnings.
